Law enforcement and employees of local establishments in Mankato are putting “thank you” notes on vehicles left at bars and restaurants in the early morning when they believe drivers who had too much to drink chose another way to get home. State Patrol Lieutenant Troy Christianson says, “Anything that just can help somebody make a better decision in the evening or late hours if they’ve had too much to drink; anything we can do to try and keep Minnesota roadways safe.” He says the “thank you note” program is a “different way of reinforcing the positive benefits of making people aware of the dangers of drinking and driving.”
Christianson reminds motorists across Minnesota there’s stepped-up D-W-I enforcement now through the Labor Day weekend.
