A judge has set a March 9th trial date for a Washington County deputy facing manslaughter charges — the third Minnesota law enforcement officer in recent memory charged in a killing while on-duty. The Star Tribune reports Brian Krook’s attorney asked for more time to prepare his client’s case after the prosecution shared new evidence which he called substantial. 23-year-old Benjamin Evans of Lake Elmo was shot in 2018 at an intersection near his home. Authorities were responding to a report of a suicidal man with a gun.
