Maurice’s, the Duluth-based women’s clothing company, is being sold to an affiliate of a private equity firm in London for 300 million dollars, reports the Star Tribune. Executives of the former majority owner say the chain, which operates about 940 stores nationwide, has had an “unacceptable level of profitability” and the new owners say they believe there’s a real opportunity to change that situation.
