(Minneapolis, MN) — Community leaders, including a coalition of Black Lives Matter, the local NAACP and others, are criticizing Minneapolis Police Chief Janee Harteau’s (HAR-toe) message anticipating potential violence once a charging decision is made against the officers involved in Jamar Clark’s shooting. At a joint news conference outside City Hall today, Jason Sole with the Minneapolis NAACP says Chief Harteau is “setting the stage to promote violence against us–those words were terroristic threats.” Sole adds that protesters are doing the right thing and simply demanding justice. Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman is expected to announce his decision on whether to charge the officers involved in Clark’s shooting by the end of the month.
