(Moorhead, MN) — Representatives from the Minnesota DNR will be in Moorhead this evening to discuss the proposed FM Flood Diversion Project. The DNR is seeking public comments on its draft environmental impact statement regarding the project’s potential effects. The diversion would create an upstream storage area and divert the Red River into a 30 mile long channel on the west side of the Fargo-Moorhead area. The Army Corps of Engineers will oversee construction, the latest cost estimate is just under two-billion dollars. Tonight’s meeting at the Courtyard by Marriott begins at five, formal presentations at seven, followed by a public input session.
