(St. Paul, MN) — Mobile mental health services are expanding in Minnesota to help those in crisis. State Deputy Commissioner of Human Services Chuck Johnson says a lot of people experiencing mental illness “can go through periods where they’re doing better and periods where they’re having problems or having a crisis, and if we’re able to address these crises right at the front-end, immediately, we’re able to help people stay in the community and live more successfully in the community.” Mobile crisis services consist of local teams that offer in-home psychiatric services quickly to those in need. The expanded coverage adds services in seven counties, including Kandiyohi, Meeker and Swift — and in two tribal nations (Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe and Red Lake Nation).
