Target sweatshirt has drawn fire from mental health advocates
Minnesota-based Target is getting pushback from mental health advocates on its holiday sweatshirt which reads “OCD – Obsessive Christmas Disorder.” Sue Aberholden with NAMI (NAH-mee) Minnesota says anyone who has lived with obsessive-compulsive disorder knows how difficult it is, and the sweatshirt just makes fun of it. She’s asking the mega-retailer to take the product off the shelves. Abderholden adds “the real question is, would they have joked about some other type of illness — cancer, diabetes, heart disease?” Target says at this time it has no plans to remove the sweatshirt from its assortment and adds, quote, “we never want to disappoint any of our guests and apologize for any discomfort.”
