(Austin, MN) — An Austin man pleaded guilty today (TUES) to a felony assault charge in connection to a shooting in early June that put the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in Austin under temporary lockdown. 34-year-old Denroy Jeffers was accused of shooting another man in the chest while the victim fought with another man in the basement of a residence located under a mile from the Mayo Clinic facilities. The shooting victim was brought to the Austin hospital, then airlifted to Rochester’s St. Mary’s Hospital for emergency surgery. Jeffers fled the scene but later surrendered to Austin police.

(St. Paul, MN) — The second of two men convicted for their roles in the deadly October 2021 Truck Bar Shooting in St. Paul that killed 27-year-old Marquisha Wiley and injured dozens more, will spend nearly 37 years in prison. 35-year-old Terry Brown was found guilty in June of four counts of attempted second-degree murder, second-degree murder, and illegal gun possession. The other convicted person, Devondre Phillips, will spend nearly 29 years in prison for his role in the shooting.

(Undated) — Gas prices have spiked around 40 cents per gallon over the last month. Triple-A Minnesota spokesman Gene LaDoucer (luh-DO-sir) says there are a couple of driving factors for the increase. He says Russia and Saudi Arabia agreed to further their production cuts, and extreme heat in the United States, which is resulting in additional maintenance, requirements at refineries, and reduced output. Couple that with the extremely high travel volumes this summer. Today’s average in Minnesota for a gallon of unleaded is $3.81.

(St. Paul, MN) –Fairgoers can avoid congestion to and from the Great Minnesota Get-Together. Metro Transit announced today (TUES) their plan to run State Fair Express Buses every 30 minutes to multiple fairground locations. The bus service is set to stop in Blaine, Minnetonka, Bloomington, and Cottage Grove with buses beginning at 9 a.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. on weekends and Labor Day, with final buses departing the fairgrounds at midnight each day except Labor Day, which will be 11 p.m. instead. Tickets are $5 in advance on the Metro Transits app and $6 online or on-site. Parking at express bus Park & Rides is free.

Other Vikings on the NFL Top 100 include Harrison Smith (97) and Kirk Cousins (42).
