(Austin, MN) — An Austin man pleaded guilty today (TUES) to a felony assault charge in connection to a shooting in early June that put the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in Austin under temporary lockdown. 34-year-old Denroy Jeffers was accused of shooting another man in the chest while the victim fought with another man in the basement of a residence located under a mile from the Mayo Clinic facilities. >>Pain at the Pump

(Undated) — Gas prices have spiked around 40 cents per gallon over the last month. Triple-A Minnesota spokesman Gene LaDoucer (luh-DO-sir) says there are a couple of driving factors for the increase. He says Russia and Saudi Arabia agreed to further their production cuts, and extreme heat in the United States, which is resulting in additional maintenance, requirements at refineries, and reduced output. Couple that with the extremely high travel volumes this summer. Today’s average in Minnesota for a gallon of unleaded is $3.81.

>>State Fair Express

(St. Paul, MN) –Fairgoers can avoid congestion to and from the Great Minnesota Get-Together. Metro Transit announced today (TUES) their plan to run State Fair Express Buses every 30 minutes to multiple fairground locations. The bus service is set to stop in Blaine, Minnetonka, Bloomington, and Cottage Grove with buses beginning at 9 a.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. on weekends and Labor Day, with final buses departing the fairgrounds at midnight each day except Labor Day, which will be 11 p.m. instead. Tickets are $5 in advance on the Metro Transits app and $6 online or on-site. Parking at express bus Park & Rides is free.

>>Mega Millions Jackpot 3rd Largest in U.S. History

(Roseville, MN) — Lottery players have a chance at the now 3rd-largest Mega Millions jackpot in U.S. history tonight (TUES) at an estimated $1.55 billion. There have been 30 straight drawings since the last win on April 18th, which the company says is due to a combo of poor luck and terrible odds. Each drawing without a winner pushes the prize closer to the record $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot that someone in California won last year.
