>>Four Finalists Named for Next President at St. Cloud State University
(St. Cloud, MN) – Four finalists have been named in the search for the next president of St. Cloud State University. The remaining candidates are Matt Cecil from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Lisa Foss from Arizona State, Rodney Hanley, who is the president of Northeastern State University in Oklahoma, and Gregory Tomso, who is on sabbatical from the University of West Florida. The Board of Trustees of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities is expected to consider Chancellor Scott Olson’s recommendation for the position at the November 19th meeting. The new president is expected to start on January 1st, 2026.

(St. Cloud, MN) — The Minnesota Organic Conference is making its return to St. Cloud this January. Hosted by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, the two-day event will be held at the River’s Edge Convention Center on January 8th and 9th. This year’s conference features more than 30 breakout sessions and 80 exhibitor booths, highlighting the latest in organic farming, marketing, and research. Keynote speaker Dr. Joel Gruver from Western Illinois University will share insights from his decades of work blending no-till and organic practices to boost soil health. And new this year, a farmer-led panel discussion featuring members of the Organic Advisory Task Force. Early-bird registration is open now through December 1st.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Activists and families are rallying outside the Hennepin County Government Center today (THURS, 12:30 p.m.), demanding justice for Allison Lussier and Mariah Samuels. The Twin Cities Coalition for Justice says these two women were killed by ex-partners after repeated pleas to the Minneapolis Police were ignored. Lussier was killed in February 2024; Samuels this September. The Twin Cities Coalition for Justice is calling for accountability, including firing M-P-D Chief Brian O’Hara and creating a civilian oversight commission.
>>Orono Police Search for Missing Woman
(Orono, MN) — Orono police are searching for a missing 29-year-old woman with concern for her well-being. Trisca White was last seen near the Hennepin County Government Center on October 23rd, and she was reported missing on Tuesday. She is described as Black, five feet eight inches tall, 120 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. White was last seen wearing a black coat with a fur-lined hood and leggings.
>>DNR Looking for Cone and Tree Seeds
(Undated) — The Minnesota DNR is looking for tree seed and cone collectors to help grow the state’s forests. Seed and cone consultant Nicole Schafer says the state nursery grows about 7 million seedlings a year, so they need all the help they can get. The DNR will pay $60 per bushel for jack pine, $80 per bushel for red pine, and $200 per bushel for black spruce species. More info can be found on the DNR’s website.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Twins are officially announcing today (Thurs) that Derek Shelton is their new manager. Shelton will be introduced at a news conference on Tuesday at Target Field. He managed the Pittsburgh Pirates for five-plus seasons and went 306-and-440. Shelton spent the 2018 and 2019 seasons as a bench coach in Minnesota. Twins president Derek Falvey said, “He cares deeply about this community and our fans, and he’s genuinely driven to take on the challenge of bringing winning baseball back to Minnesota. ”

(St. Cloud, MN) — St. Cloud police are searching for a missing pair of identical twins. Yermi and Dani Norberto, 15 years old, were last seen leaving a residence on foot on September 27th. Officials believe they returned to the Marshall area, where they previously had lived. The twins are described as Hispanic, five feet five inches tall, 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. They are both fluent in Spanish. Yermi and Dani were last seen wearing sweatshirts and black shorts, and they both wear glasses.
>>Minnesota Lynx Coach Reeve Named to Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame
(Minneapolis, MN) — Cheryl Reeve of the Minnesota Lynx is headed to the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame. Reeve was named today to the Class of 2026. She just finished her 16th season as head coach of the Lynx and her third year as president. Reeve is the winningest coach in W-B-N-A history with 364 regular-season victories and 52 playoff wins. She has won four W-B-N-A titles with the Lynx, and two as an assistant in Detroit. Reeve also led Team U-S-A to the gold medal at the Paris Olympics. The induction ceremony is on June 27th in Knoxville, Tennessee.
