>>Weekend Shooting in Willmar

(Willmar, MN) A teen is hospitalized, and another is in jail after a weekend shooting in Willmar. Willmar Police say 18-year-old Carsten  Tallman of Willmar faces charges of attempted second-degree murder, second-degree assault, and drive-by shooting for allegedly shooting at a 17-year-old on the north side of Willmar. The shooting was reported at 2:22 a.m. Sunday, the victim was brought to Centra Care Rice hospital in Willmar by a private party and later airlifted to a Twin Cities hospital, current condition unknown.

>>Missionary from Detroit Lakes Killed in Africa

(Detroit Lakes, MN) — A missionary from Detroit Lakes was killed Friday in Africa. According to Lakes Area Vineyard Church Lead Pastor Troy Easton, “Beau Shroyer was killed in an act of violence while serving Jesus in Angola, Africa.” Easton says the church was notified by the Chief Personnel Officer & General Counsel of SIM-USA – the organization Shroyer was serving with. Shroyer was 44. He was married with five children.

>>Absentee Voters Urged To Return Ballots Early

(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota’s Secretary of State urges absentee voters to get their ballots in immediately. Secretary of State Steve Simon says more than 565 million absentee ballots have been returned so far, with about 300 million yet to be turned in. Simon reminds voters that absentee ballots received after 8 p.m. on Election Day will not be counted. He’s also urged those who haven’t voted yet to make plans to do so before polls close on November 5th.

>>Walz Names New Director For State EMS Office

(St. Paul, MN) — A new state agency has its first director. Governor Walza is appointing Dylan Ferguson as director of the Office of Emergency Medical Services. The agency was created earlier this year to oversee EMT and paramedic certification, give grants to local EMS units, and regulate ambulance services and EMT training programs. Ferguson was most recently the executive director of the Minnesota Emergency Services Regulatory Board. He will start his new job on January 1st.

>>Motorcyclist Killed in Rear-End Crash with Pickup Pulling Fish House in Morrison County

(Bellevue Township, MN) — The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a deadly motorcycle crash near Royalton in Morrison County. The report says a pickup was pulling a fish house on Highway 10 late Sunday night when it was rear-ended by a motorcycle. Troopers say the 27-year-old Sauk Rapids man was thrown from his cycle and struck a median pillar before another car hit the bike. The motorcyclist died at the scene. No word yet of the condition of his passenger. The victims’ names haven’t been released.

(Undated) — Over the next two days, we’ll flirt with record-high temperatures. The forecast for Monday calls for a high of 73. The record high for this date is 73, set in 1912. Tuesday, the record high was 74, set in 1937 and 1950. The forecast is calling for a high of 72. A cool front will bring Scattered thunderstorms Tuesday night into Wednesday. A few storms may be strong to severe, possibly producing strong wind gusts or hail. The average temperature in October is around 50 degrees.
