(Brainerd, MN) — There’s a Republican primary today (Tues) in Minnesota Senate District 6 in Crow Wing and Itasca counties. Eight G-O-P candidates are competing for the seat of ex-Republican state Senator Justin Eichorn of Grand Rapids. Eichorn resigned following his arrest for soliciting a minor for sex in Bloomington. The candidates are Jennifer Carnahan, Josh Gazelka, Keri Heintzeman, Angel Zierden, Doug Kern, Steve Cotariu, John Howe, and Matthew Zinda. The winner of the Republican primary will face Democratic candidate Denise Siply in the April 29th special election.

(Fargo, ND) — A former Fargo and Moorhead bar owner will spend 15 years in federal prison. Fifty-two-year-old Barrett Prody (PRO’-dee) pleaded guilty to leading a cocaine distribution ring for nearly four years. Federal prosecutors say Prody made hundreds of thousands of dollars in illegal profits, which he moved through what appeared to be legitimate business accounts. He used the drug money to pay for a condo in Florida and an apartment in Columbia. Prody owned the former J-T Cigarros in Fargo and O’Leary’s Pub in Moorhead years before his arrest.

(Dassel, MN) — The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of break-ins and property damage incidents in Dassel. The sheriff’s office says they received 12 calls about property damage, burglary alarms, break-ins, and suspicious people walking in Dassel from April 12th through the 14th. Authorities say several businesses in the downtown area and a vehicle on the south side of town were damaged. Deputies have gathered evidence and are investigating the incidents. The sheriff’s office asks anyone with video footage of the crimes or information to contact them. Any information can be provided anonymously on the office’s confidential tip line. (320-693-5411)
>>Little Falls Man Hurt in Morrison County UTV Crash
(Little Falls, MN) — A man from Little Falls is recovering from injuries from a U-T-V crash near Swanville. The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office says 35-year-old Brandon Janey failed to negotiate a curve on his side-by-side Saturday night and drove off the roadway. Janey was taken to St. Gabriel’s Hospital. There’s no word on his current condition.

(Duluth, MN) — Duluth police are asking for the public’s help identifying a shoplifting suspect. Police say that last Tuesday, a woman stole items from JCPenney. She’s described as white with red hair, wearing a black vest, blue sweatshirt, and black leggings. Anyone with information is encouraged to call 911.

(Brooklyn Park, MN) — Brooklyn Park police are searching for a missing man. 23-year-old Christopher Duncan was last seen leaving a Brooklyn Park residence on foot Monday. He’s described as white, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 162 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. Christopher was last seen wearing blue jeans and a camouflage jacket. He could be in Minneapolis.
>>St. Paul Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting Roseville Students
(Roseville, MN) — A Roseville school volunteer with cognitive delays is charged with sexually assaulting four children. 50-year-old Joshua Seeman has a history of sexual assault allegations by vulnerable adults. On April 6th, police responded to a father’s report that Seeman had assaulted his five-year-old son at King of Kings Lutheran Church and School. Three more reports came in the next day, the victims including boys 4 and 6 years old and a 5-year-old girl.

USDA’s latest weekly crop update says oats are 9 percent seeded, spring wheat is 1 percent, and 1 percent of the state’s intended corn acres are planted. Farmers also do tillage and apply fertilizer and manure. Topsoil moisture supplies are rated at 70 percent adequate to surplus, and subsoil moisture is 55 percent adequate to surplus.
