>>Driver Arrested for Crashing into Brooklyn Park Group Home

(Brooklyn Park, MN) – A driver is under arrest after crashing a car into a Brooklyn Park group home this morning and causing a gas leak. Officers say the vehicle crashed into a bedroom, and all occupants were evacuated. The driver and one resident were treated for minor injuries. Firefighters and CenterPoint Energy crews were able to stop the leak. 

 

>>Minneapolis Mayor Frey Named on TIME’s 100 Most Influential List

(Minneapolis, MN) – Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey is one of TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2026. Frey is credited with leading Minneapolis through the largest immigration enforcement operation in U.S. history. The White House eventually removed agents involved in Operation Midway Surge from the city, but not before two people were killed and a third person was shot. The magazine highlighted his response at a news conference in which he told ICE agents to, quote, “Get the f‑‑‑ out of Minneapolis.” Others on the Time magazine list include New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and President Trump.  

 

>>Senators Klobuchar, Warren Urge Court to Scrutinize Live Nation–Ticketmaster Deal

(Washington, D.C.) – Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren are urging a federal judge to closely review the Justice Department’s proposed settlement with Live Nation and Ticketmaster. In a letter to the U.S. District Court, the senators argue the deal fails to restore competition in the live events industry. Court findings show Ticketmaster controls more than 70% of major concert venue ticketing contracts. Live Nation dominates concert promotion and amphitheaters nationwide.

 

>>Reality TV Personality Announces Run Against Rep. Pete Stauber

(Minnesota’s 8th District) – Another challenger is entering the race against Republican Representative Pete Stauber in Minnesota’s 8th District. Luke Gulbranson, originally from Eveleth, is known for appearing on the reality shows Summer House and Winter House. He posted a video today announcing his run. He acknowledges the TV background, but says there are more serious issues the country is facing, like economic and health reforms. Gulbranson is seeking the DFL endorsement. As of now, federal records show Gulbranson has not yet filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission.

 

>>Cold Weather Rule Ends on April 30th

(Undated) – Minnesotans who are behind on their heating bills are encouraged to apply for the state’s Energy Assistance program. The Cold Weather Rule, which prevents Minnesota households from having their utilities shut off, ends in a couple of weeks. Michael Schmitz with the Department of Commerce (DOC) says families making up to $72,000 a year are eligible. The DOC has already seen 135,000 households apply, and says funds are still available. Schmitz says homeowners and renters can both apply for grants. The Cold Weather Rule protects residential customers from having their utilities disconnected during the winter.

 

>>Timberwolves vs. Nuggets First-Round Playoff Schedule Released

(Minneapolis, MN) – The NBA is out with the schedule of the first-round playoff series between the Timberwolves and Nuggets. Minnesota and Denver will play Game One of the seven-game series Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Ball Arena, and Game Two is Monday night at 9:30 on the Nuggets’ home court. The series moves to Target Center for Games 3 and 4 next Thursday and Saturday nights. Game 5 would be Monday, April 27th, in Denver, Game 6 is set for Thursday, April 30th, in Minneapolis, and Game 7 will be played May 2nd in Colorado, if necessary.
