>>Burglary Suspect Arrested After Pursuit Near Moorhead
(Moorhead, MN) — Clay County Sheriff Mark Empting has released the name of a burglary suspect from Anoka, who led state troopers and deputies on a pursuit east of Moorhead Monday afternoon. Empting says 23-year-old Cole Meadows of Spring Lake Park was headed west on I-94. He was wanted for burglary in Anoka and was thought to have a gun. Stop sticks were deployed twice during the high-speed pursuit. Meadows stopped on Highway 336, exited the car, and ran. He was caught with the help of K-9 Cash, who later found a handgun. Meadows was taken to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo and is now in the Clay County Jail facing several charges. He’ll eventually be returned to Anoka County.

(Stanchfield Township, MN) — Authorities are investigating a deadly head-on collision in central Minnesota that occurred last night on Highway 65 in Stanchfield Township. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 17-year-old driving a pickup truck collided with a van driven by 64-year-old Kenneth Snyder. Sadly, Snyder died at the scene, as he was not wearing a seatbelt. The teenager was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

(Willmar, MN) — A Willmar man will be sentenced today (Tues, 2:25 pm) for a drunken driving crash that killed a pedestrian in December of 2023. Kandiyohi County prosecutors say 34-year-old Paulo Portillo pleaded guilty to fatally striking 52-year-old Jason Jarvis of Cokato in Willmar and fleeing the scene. Portillo turned himself in to the police about a month later. He pleaded guilty in November.

(Undated) — Pork carnitas from Aldi stores are getting a contamination alert nationwide. FDA officials say the fully cooked products produced from April 1-2 may have pieces of metal inside. The product has not been recalled since it is no longer available, but it may be in people’s fridges and freezers. Consumers should throw out or return these products with an establishment number “Est. 46046” inside the USDA mark of inspection. No injuries have been reported.

(St. Cloud, MN) — The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office is excited to introduce its newest member, Porter, a nine-month-old bloodhound. Porter has recently completed his training and certification. Sheriff’s officials plan to use him for tracking and trailing duties, taking over the responsibilities previously held by Freddie, another K9 in the department.
