(Chanhassen, MN) — The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for 29 counties across northwest, west central, and southwest Minnesota today, due to extreme fire risk conditions. Dry air, low humidity, and strong winds mean any spark could quickly turn into a fast-moving wildfire. Officials are urging residents not to burn and to double-check that any recent fires are completely extinguished. The Minnesota DNR has suspended burning permits and discourages campfires during this period. Residents should also avoid activities that could create sparks, such as dragging trailer chains or using equipment near dry vegetation.

>>Bus Crash Near Wabasso

(Wabasso, MN) — At least one person was injured following a crash involving a bus and an SUV on Wednesday morning in Redwood County. According to the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched Wednesday morning to a reported collision between a bus and an SUV near Wabasso. The bus was carrying more than 20 occupants, and the SUV driver had been injured. The SUV had rear-ended the bus, and the juvenile SUV driver was transported by ambulance for treatment. 2 to 3 juvenile passengers on the bus were also taken to the hospital as a precaution. Christina Flesner of Tracy drove the bus. No additional details on the extent of injuries have been released.

>>Game Three of Wolves and Nuggets Playoffs Series at Target Center

(Minneapolis, MN)  —  The Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets play Game Three of the N-B-A playoffs tonight at Target Center.  The Wolves tied the series at a game apiece with a 119-114 win on Monday in Colorado.   Anthony Edwards had 30 points and rebounds despite a sore knee.   Minnesota will also host Game 4 on Saturday evening.

>>Burnsville Man Dies in Dakota County Motorcycle Crash

(Eagan, MN) — A Burnsville man is the victim of a deadly motorcycle crash late Tuesday night in Dakota County. The Minnesota State Patrol says 29-year-old Joseph Morema was riding on Interstate 35-E near Eagan when he drove into gravel and dirt and was thrown from his cycle. Morema died at the scene. The report says he was not wearing a helmet.

>>Man Suffers Serious Injuries in Motorcycle Crash Near Aurora

(White Township, MN) — Deputies are investigating a motorcycle crash in St. Louis County that left a man seriously injured. It happened just after noon on Wednesday in White Township near Aurora. Authorities say a 38-year-old man from Embarrass was riding westbound when he hit loose gravel, lost control, and went down on the pavement. He was not wearing a helmet. The man was treated at the scene, then airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries. His name has not been released while deputies notify family members.

(Undated) – The Minnesota Department of Transportation is urging drivers and farm equipment operators to use extra caution as planting season ramps up. MnDOT says slow-moving tractors and large machinery will be more common on rural roads, especially around dawn and dusk. From 2023 to 2025, Minnesota saw 392 crashes involving farm equipment, resulting in 12 deaths and 167 injuries. Officials say motorists should slow down, watch for debris, and be prepared to stop. Equipment operators are reminded to use required lighting, flashing signals, and slow-moving vehicle emblems to help keep everyone safe on the road.

(Willmar, MN) — The Minnesota State Board of Trustees has named Cheryl Norman the next president of Ridgewater College. Her appointment begins July first, 2026. Norman currently serves as vice president of academic and student affairs at Central Lakes College. Minnesota State Chancellor Scott Olson says her data-driven leadership will strengthen enrollment and student success. Norman succeeds Craig Johnson, who is retiring after leading Ridgewater since 2018.

>Walz Writing Book on “Operation Metro Surge”

(Undated) — Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is writing a book about the state’s resistance to Operation Metro Surge. Publisher W.W. Norton & Company announced Wednesday that Good Neighbors will be released next year, after the second-term DFL governor leaves office. In a statement, Walz said the book highlights the compassion, courage, and resilience of Minnesotans.
