(St. Paul, MN) — The April 15th tax filing deadline is fast approaching. Minnesota Department of Revenue Commissioner Paul Marquardt says 60 percent of Minnesotans have already filed. He says if you’re among the 40 percent who still have not, the most convenient and secure way to file and to get a refund is to file tax returns electronically and then choose direct deposit. He cautions that tax season is a busy time for scammers and criminals, so always be alert and protect your personal information.

(Lincoln, NE) — The recent snowfall in Minnesota isn’t having a significant impact on the drought conditions. The new U-S Drought Monitor map shows 94 percent of state remains abnormally dry for the second straight week. The areas of moderate drought dropped slightly from 66.4 to 62.6 percent. Just under nine percent of Minnesota is still experiencing severe drought conditions. Some of the driest areas of the state up north received much need snowfall this week.

(Monticello, MN) — Wright County authorities say a 40-year-old man from Greenbush is jailed for leading deputies on a chase that started in Monticello. The sheriff’s office says the suspect fled from a traffic stop around 9:30 this morning (Fri) and led officers on a pursuit on I-94 before fleeing his vehicle and running away. Deputies used a K-9 and drones to locate the driver who was hiding. He was taken into custody pending felony charges for fleeing police in a motor vehicle.

(Elmont, NY) — The Minnesota Wild play the Islanders tonight (Fri 6:30pm) in New York. The Wild are coming off three straight defeats, including back-to-back overtime losses to the Devils and Rangers in which they earned a point each night. Minnesota is in fifth place in the Central Division and holds the final Wild Card playoff position with six games remaining in the regular season.

Hancock has won 14 Grammy Awards in his five-decade career as a jazz musician, composer, and band leader. Herbie was a child piano prodigy who performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at age 11, he began playing jazz in high school and joined the Miles Davis Quintet in 1963.
