>>Minneapolis Releases Video from ICE-Involved Shooting
(Minneapolis, MN) – New video footage released from an ICE-involved shooting that injured Julio Sosa-Celis in north Minneapolis earlier this year. The City of Minneapolis posted about nine minutes of city-owned camera video from the January 14th incident. Officials say they have no additional information and will not comment further. Federal authorities say ICE agents were attempting to arrest Sosa-Celis after a vehicle pursuit ended in a crash. The 24-year-old was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Another man was also arrested. Both suspects were charged with assaulting a federal agent, but charges were later dismissed, citing evidence inconsistent with earlier allegations. The U.S. Attorney’s Office is now investigating two ICE agents after video evidence showed portions of their sworn statements were not truthful.
>>Murder Charges Filed in Death of Justin “Juice” Marshall
(Minneapolis, MN) – A Minneapolis man is now charged in the shooting death of Justin “Juice” Marshall, nearly nine months after the killing. Hennepin County prosecutors charged Dijon Davis with second‑degree murder in connection with the July 25th, 2025, shooting. Police were called around 2:30 a.m., where Marshall was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He died later at Hennepin Healthcare. Investigators say Marshall was speaking with a man inside a vehicle when the suspect got out and fired several shots before fleeing the scene. Marshall, who was in his 30s, was later identified as the victim.
>>Helicopter Owner Loses Lawsuit Against City Officials
(East Gull Lake, MN) – A Cass County judge is tossing out a lawsuit filed by a helicopter owner in East Gull Lake. The ruling denies Twin Cities executive Doug Schieffer the right to take off and land at his multimillion-dollar vacation home. The judge sided with the city recently after local officials banned Schieffer’s helicopter, and he kept flying. Schieffer contends that his rights as a property owner are being violated and plans to appeal the court ruling.
>>Middle East War Impacting MN Farmers
(St. Paul, MN) – First, it was tariffs; now the war in the Middle East is impacting Minnesota farmers. DFL Senator Rob Kupec of Moorhead is the Vice-Chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee. He says farmers face high diesel fuel and fertilizer prices, being hit with a “double whammy, specifically when commodity prices are not great.” Kupec says there’s not much state lawmakers can do to stop federal decisions, but they mustn’t add to the problems our farmers are facing. A dairy assistance bill for farmers quickly moved through the state Senate, but before the break, it got hung up in the House. Kupec says, “Whatever they’re doing with it, the gamesmanship or whatever ends, and that bill gets through.” The bill would provide more dairy farmers with assistance from federal funds. Kupec is confident the bill will pass this session.
>>MN Farmer Disease Pressure
(Blue Earth County, MN) – A pig farmer from southern Minnesota says disease pressure continues to be a challenge. Sam Ziegler, a contract grower in Blue Earth County, said, “Different strains of viruses, PRRS, keep coming through. As soon as you get your herd healthy again, it feels like something else comes through, so that’s been really tough.” Ziegler says there are dense hog populations in his part of the state. Blue Earth is the second-largest hog-producing county in Minnesota, averaging around one million hogs per year. Minnesota trails only Iowa for total hog inventory and production in the U.S.
>>Getting to Know the 988 Lifeline
(Undated) – It’s a three-digit number designed to save lives, yet too many people still don’t know it exists. That’s why mental health advocates are pushing to raise awareness around the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Suicide Awareness Voices of Education (SAVE) CEO Eric Mische says, “Anybody who is struggling needs someone to talk to, call, chat, text 988.” Mische says, depending on which polling data you look at, anywhere from 40-60% of the American population is aware of 988. The message is simple: help is there, and it starts with knowing 988.
