>>Lawmaker Reactions to School Shooting in South Minneapolis

(Minneapolis, MN) – Two children, eight and ten years old, and the gunman are dead, and nearly 20 people are injured, 17 total, 14 of whom are children, after a shooting at the Annunciation Catholic School this morning in South Minneapolis. Witnesses told police that students were seated for Mass when the shooter opened fire outside the building through church windows. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D) says she’s “heartbroken by the horrific violence,” and Senator Tina Smith (D) says this is “a nightmare for the parents who dropped their children off at the first week back to school.” Senate Minority Leader Mark Johnson (R) says, “As a state, we stand together against these violent acts and the wicked individuals who perpetrate them.” 

 

>>2 More Shootings in Minneapolis After Mass Shooting

(Minneapolis, MN) — Two more shootings in Minneapolis last night, after a mass shooting killed one and injured six others. Police responded to the first around 8 p.m. A man in his 20s was brought to Hennepin Healthcare with life-threatening gunshot wounds, where he later died. Another man in his 20s was dropped off at another hospital twenty minutes later with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds sustained from that shooting. Police responded to the second shooting around 2 a.m. Investigators say a man was part of a group on the sidewalk when a gunman opened fire and left the scene on foot. The victim was pronounced dead. Another man was dropped off at a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries sustained from that shooting. No arrests have been made in either case.

 

>>Fundraiser for Mankato Mom Who Lost Children in Fire 

(Mankato, MN) — Support is pouring in for a Mankato family that lost two children in a duplex fire. The GoFundMe page says Deanna Lenzen remains at Hennepin Healthcare, receiving treatment in a hyperbaric chamber. Lenzen’s one-year-old daughter Annika and six-year-old son Aiden died in the fire on Monday morning. Her nine-year-old daughter Jazmine, was rescued by Deanna’s boyfriend. Her father told reporters that Deanna ran into the bedroom to try and save Annika. More than 117 people have donated over $5,600 to Lenzen’s family so far.  

 

>>3 More Lows Gang Members Charged with RICO Conspiracy, Murder

(Minneapolis, MN) — Three more alleged members of The Lows, a violent Minneapolis street gang, have been federally indicted on RICO conspiracy and murder charges. The Lows allegedly traffic in firearms and narcotics, including fentanyl. Marques Armstrong Jr., 30, Davant Moore, 23, and Jahon Lynch, 20, will make their initial court appearances today. They join 11 other defendants believed to be responsible for at least ten murders in the city.

 

>>Beltrami County Sheriff’s Deputy Hurt in Stolen Vehicle Crash 

(Bemidji, MN) — A Beltrami County sheriff’s deputy is recovering from injuries suffered in a crash Tuesday involving a stolen vehicle. Authorities tried to stop the suspect west of Bemidji, but he led patrol cars on a chase over gravel roads and snowmobile trails. The report says a deputy was traveling with his emergency lights on when the stolen vehicle struck the squad car head-on. The deputy was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later released. The suspect was also taken to the hospital and remains in custody. 

 

>>Vikings Bringing Back Fan Favorite Wide Receiver Adam Thielen 

(Eagan, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings are bringing back wide receiver and Detroit Lakes native Adam Thielen. NFL Network is reporting the Carolina Panthers are trading 35-year-old Thielen to the Vikes for a 2026 fifth-round draft pick and a fourth-rounder in 2027. Minnesota gets a couple of conditional picks. Thielen signed as an undrafted rookie out of MSU-Mankato in 2013 and spent nine-plus seasons in Purple. The Vikings needed help at receiver with Jordan Addison suspended for the first three games. 

 

>>Twins Activate Woods Richardson for Series Finale in Toronto 

(Toronto, ON) — The Minnesota Twins are activating starting pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson for the series finale tonight at 6 p.m. at Toronto. Woods Richardson went on the 15-day Injured List on August 4th due to an illness caused by a parasite. The right-hander is 5-and-4 with a 4.24 ERA in 16 starts for Minnesota this season. The Twins beat the Blue Jays 7-5 last night to even the series at one game each.
