>>14-Year-Old Boy Killed, Both Drivers Critically Injured in Rice County Crash
(Webster Township, MN) — A 14-year-old boy is dead, and two people are in critical condition after a crash Tuesday night in southern Minnesota’s Rice County. The sheriff’s office says a truck driven by 20-year-old Caleb Mulvihill of Lakeville crossed the centerline and collided with a pickup driven by 16-year-old Hunter Bundy from Lakeville. Deputies say a passenger in Mulvihill’s truck, Brantly McCarty, died at the scene. Mulvihill was taken to H-C-M-C, and Bundy was rushed to Children’s Hospital. The report says impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash.

(St. Cloud, MN) — St. Cloud State University launched Minnesota’s first cannabis certificate programs one year ago, and the career training opportunities continue to grow. S-C-S-U Professional and Continuing Education director Abe Hedke (HEAD’-kee) says it’s been a great first year. He says they’ve had a chance to really explore the overall statewide interest in cannabis. We started with four programs back last fall, and we’ve actually added a fifth program. And we’ve also added three of what we call career training short courses.”
The original certificates are in agriculture and horticulture, health care and medicine, cannabis business, and compliance and risk management, and the fifth is in product development and design. Hedke says they have students from a hundred different Minnesota communities and 20 from the Dakotas.

(Falcon Heights, MN) — The forecast for day seven (Wed) of the Minnesota State Fair calls for partly sunny skies and a high temperature in the upper 70s. There was a big improvement over the extreme heat on Sunday and Monday and storms on Monday night and Tuesday morning. Today is Kids Day, and all visitors ages five to 12 get in for 13 dollars. Country music singer Jon Pardi plays the State Fair Grandstand stage tonight (Wed 7 pm) with opening act Dillon Carmichael.

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota State Patrol tells drivers to slow down, pay attention, and stay sober before the holiday weekend. The agency says more troopers will be on the road during the Labor Day weekend to try to catch those who are impaired, distracted, or driving recklessly. Troopers will also be watching out for drivers who fail to move over for vehicles stopped on the side of the highway and will issue tickets for not obeying the state’s Move Over law. Monday marks the end of the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day, commonly known as the 100 Deadliest Days of Summer.

(Worthington, MN) — The Federal Emergency Management Agency has opened two new disaster recovery centers in Albert Lea and Worthington to help Minnesotans affected by June flooding. Specialists from FEMA, the U.S. Small Business Administration, and the state of Minnesota will be at each location to answer questions and help process disaster relief applications.
