(Undated) — Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is coming off a primetime national interview that included several personal questions. The Democratic vice-presidential candidate joined Vice President Kamala Harring last night on CNN. Walz was questioned on whether he misspoke in 2018 when he said that he carried weapons of war despite never being deployed to a war zone. He did not answer directly at first–only to say he is proud of his service in the Army National Guard. Walz eventually said yes, he misspoke. He also said he misspoke about his family’s fertility issues. Walz went back on his earlier claim that he and his wife used IVF to start their family but instead used intrauterine insemination, which involves placing sperm directly into a woman’s uterus to increase the chances of fertilization.

(Rochester, MN) — A former Olmsted County deputy has pleaded guilty to producing child sex abuse material (CSAM). Matthew Adamson was arrested, charged, and indicted in April on multiple counts of child sexual abuse crimes. Almost every charge was dismissed except for the production and attempted production of CSAM in the plea agreement. Adamson’s sentencing date has yet to be set.

(Litchfield, MN) — Two people are jailed in Meeker County after leading authorities on a chase Thursday afternoon on a motorcycle. Deputies say Willmar police initiated and then terminated a pursuit of the motorcyclist, but officers in unmarked cars continued to follow the suspect. A sheriff’s deputy intercepted the cycle and attempted to pull him over, but he fled on Highway 7 before pulling over near Corvuso (KOR’-voo-so). The 44-year-old Willmar man was arrested for fleeing and driving with a revoked license. Officers say his 21-year-old female passenger had methamphetamine in her purse and was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

(Minneapolis, MN) — A Minneapolis felon has been sentenced to 19 years in prison for illegally possessing ammunition after engaging in multiple shootings. On September 23rd, 2021, Minneapolis police responded to a shooting report in Minneapolis. Officers found a victim shot in the leg and recovered several discharged gun cartridge casings. The suspect, 52-year-old Saladean Salean, engaged in six other assaults and shootings, one fatal, between September 4th and 29th of 2023.

(Cottage Grove, MN) — Cottage Grove has officially declared a state of emergency this morning (FRI) due to damage from last night’s storms. Several tornadoes were reported across Minnesota and Wisconsin Thursday, and trees crashed into cars, homes, and businesses across the Twin Cities metro. Xcel Energy reports that over 12,000 customers are still without power as of 6 a.m.

(Hibbing, MN) — A Hibbing man is facing charges after a deadly UTV crash last month. Twenty-nine-year-old Casey Jerald Daniels was charged yesterday with criminal vehicular homicide in state district court. Investigators say the UTV hit a berm on a trail between Chisolm and Buhl, ejecting Daniels and 31-year-old Kevin Jamnick of Hibbing. Jamnick died before he could be taken to the hospital. A blood test after the crash showed Daniels had a blood alcohol level of point-one-one-three, higher than the state’s legal limit of point-zero-eight.

(Duluth, MN) — The city of Duluth is reporting a second accidental release of water into a creek where hundreds of fish died earlier this month. The city filed a report with the state on August 14th, saying water from the Woodland Reservoir spilled into Tischer Creek. About 17 thousand gallons of clean drinking water were released into a storm drain that leads to the creek. A much larger spill on August 1st has been blamed for the death of more than a thousand fish.
