>>MN Secretary of State Simon Explains Changes to Government if Gov. Walz Elected VP

(Undated) – There would be some changes to state government if Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz were elected to the White House. Secretary of State Steve Simon says Walter Mondale and Hubert Humphrey dealt with similar situations, but they weren’t governors at the time. Simon says, “The other two Minnesotans who served as vice president did so as sitting United States senators, which didn’t kick off any sort of state constitutional process like this at all. There were other succession issues, but not succession issues like this.” Simon says Walz would have time between the November election and the inauguration to resign as governor if he were elected vice president. That would make Peggy Flanagan the first Native American woman to serve as a U.S. governor.

She says, “Young women, our pre-born citizens are vulnerable, disabled and vulnerable newborns, and our vulnerable nursing home patients.” PPNCS has endorsed Harris for president and says they will extend the invitation to Walz, continuing their long-held support for him.
