(Beverly Shores, IN) — The search will continue today (Thursday) for a Minnesota teenager who disappeared on Lake Michigan in Indiana on Tuesday. Indiana Department of Natural Resources officers responded to reports of swimmers in distress off Beverly Shores on Tuesday afternoon. They found two swimmers and a good Samaritan who needed help. All three individuals were taken to a hospital and are in stable condition. The swimmers reported that a third swimmer, a 17-year-old from Eagan, was last seen about 300 feet from the shore and is still missing. Rescue attempts yesterday were unsuccessful due to dangerous water conditions.

(Brooklyn Park, MN) — Today at 6 pm, a departure ceremony in Brooklyn Park will be held for 50 Minnesota National Guard’s 2-04th Medical Company Area Support members. These soldiers have spent the last two years preparing for deployment to the Middle East, where they will be involved in civil and military operations. The M-C-A-S specializes in initial first aid and lifesaving procedures for personnel injured or fallen ill, stabilizing them for evacuation or returning them to duty. This unit was deployed to the Middle East in 2014 and Iraq in 2009.

(Little Falls, MN) — The Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls is getting a one-point-three-million-dollar federal grant for an expansion project. The grant will fund over a thousand new columbarium vaults, update the landscape, and install new irrigation. Seventh District Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach, in a statement, said, “This grant is going to mean so much to the thousands of veterans and their families who are laid to rest or paying respects to loved ones in Little Falls.” Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith also helped secure the funding.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minneapolis Police Department is asking for the public’s help finding a stolen Cane Corso puppy. Police say around 4 p.m. Monday in south Minneapolis, a 78-year-old man was knocked to the ground, and his dog was taken. The puppy is “very young” and wearing a blue harness. Anyone with information about the event or the identity of the suspects is asked to call the MPD.

(Undated) — The Salvation Army urgently asks the public for gently used clothing and household goods donations to fund its Adult Rehabilitation Program. Business Administrator Tom Canfield says despite summer being the most giving season, as winter weather keeps people inside, this year has seen a decrease in donations. He says they’ve seen a significant drop over the last four to eight weeks, ranging from 10-15% fewer donors each week. Canfield says the most desperate need is for clothing of all ages. (Minneapolis, MN) — A man, 25-year-old Damarean Bible, has been found guilty of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Savannah Williams in 2023. The incident occurred in south Minneapolis, where officers responded to a report of someone not breathing and found Williams dead from a gunshot wound at the scene. Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot around 6 a.m. Surveillance video tracked Bible to an apartment building, where he was arrested. His sentencing is tentatively set for September 11th at 8:45 a.m.

(Minneapolis, MN) –“A 21-year-old man is in custody after a ShotSpotter activation in north Minneapolis on Wednesday. Police responded to the alert around 6 p.m. Community members informed officers that a man had fired several shots, entered a detached garage, then left, fired more shots, and finally entered an occupied residence. Officers secured a perimeter, and within half an hour, several adults, juveniles, a 5-year-old, and a dog walked out of the house safely. The gunman, identified as Amariaun Thornton, was arrested by police after jumping out the window and attempting to flee. Thornton is currently in Hennepin County Jail. Another woman was booked for obstruction after she interfered with officers.”
