(Wyoming, MN) — Authorities in Chisago County are investigating a so-called “swatting” incident in the city of Wyoming on Christmas Day. Police say a man called 9-1-1 saying he was going to harm his mother and dispatchers heard what sounded like gunshots in the background. Deputies and officers from multiple departments went to the address provided by the caller and the residents there said no one called police and that no one was hurt. Investigators determined it was a swatting call and they’re now considering whether to pursue charges in the case. No other information has been released.

(Duluth, MN) — The Salvation Army in Duluth reached its holiday fundraising campaign goal thanks to a big donation the day before Christmas Eve. Administrator Michael Coyle says he went home Friday thinking they would fall short of 225 thousand dollars this year. But he says an anonymous donor called Saturday with a 25-thousand-dollar gift to meet their goal. He says they also had a good final day of bellringing at the Red Kettles.

(St. Paul, MN) — State agriculture officials are urging Minnesotans to properly dispose of their Christmas trees and holiday greens. They warn that greenery and boughs especially brought from other states can harbor invasive insects and pests. Entomologist Angie Ambourn of the Minnesota Department of Agriculture says you shouldn’t throw it all in your backyard and just leave it there until spring and then burn it. She recommends checking with your city or county about curbside tree collection or bringing the greens to a designated drop-off site.
