(St. Paul, MN) – Another Minnesota member of the House is looking to join the Senate. Representative Bernie Perryman announced her candidacy for the Minnesota State Senate in District 14. This district covers St. Cloud and parts of Benton, Sherburne, and Stearns Counties. Perryman is completing her second term in the Minnesota House. She currently serves as Co-Vice Chair of the Commerce, Finance, and Policy Committee. She will compete for the Senate seat against the incumbent, DFL Senator Aric Putnam of St. Cloud.

>>Senate Bonding Tour Visiting Projects in Southwest Minnesota

(Undated) — The Senate Capital Investment Committee is on a bonding tour today (Mon) in the west metro and southwest Minnesota. The committee is visiting seven communities to learn about 11 proposed infrastructure projects that will be requesting state matching funds. The stops include Loretto, South Haven, New London, Lake Lillian, Marshall, Redwood Falls, and Bloomington. The committee has been traveling the state and gathering information for a bonding bill in the next legislative session.

>>Firefighters Rescue Deer from Icy Lake in St. Louis County

(Hoyt Lakes, MN) — Northern Minnesota firefighters rescued a deer that fell through thin ice Saturday on Whitewater Lake, about 50 miles north of Duluth. The Hoyt Lakes Fire Department says crews responded to the call and safely pulled the animal from the frigid water. Video posted on the department’s Facebook page shows firefighters removing ropes from the deer before it ran off into nearby brush. Officials say the deer was unharmed.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The 18th-ranked University of Minnesota volleyball team is hosting N-C-A-A Tournament opening round matches this week. The Golden Gophers will face Fairfield in first-round action on Friday. St. Thomas and Iowa State are playing in the other opening-round match on Friday at Maturi Pavilion. The winners on Friday will meet in the second round on Saturday on the U of M campus.
