(Canton, MN) — A southern Minnesota mayor is accused of child abuse. Canton Mayor Joshua Nordsving admitted to authorities that he struck his nine-year-old son in the face in late October. He is charged with malicious punishment of a child and two counts of domestic assault. Nordsving is scheduled to appear in court on December 30th.

(St. Paul, Mn ) — The Minnesota Attorney General’s Office says the state is experiencing historic lows of mortgage foreclosures. Meanwhile, there is a rise in scammers targeting homeowners struggling to pay their mortgages. Attorney General Keith Ellison recently released a statement warning property owners of the increase in complaints from property owners who have been duped. Most of the cons use unsolicited emails to prey on vulnerable homeowners.

(Edina, MN) — Edina police hope footage from seized cellphones will help locate the suspects involved in a brawl at a local YMCA. The fight on December 20 involved 12 Edina High School students attacking a teen in the Southdale Y. Police got permission from the Hennepin County Court to search for video of the fight on the phones of the victim and two others at the scene. The victim was taken to HCMC with a cut under one eye along with several bruises. No charges have been filed.

(Duluth, Minn.) – Only two more nights to enjoy the millions of holiday lights and the annual tradition of Bentleyville in Duluth. Tonight (Friday), the huge display with more than six million lights will be open from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Then tomorrow night will be the grand finale for the holiday attraction with a fireworks show beginning at 5:30 p.m. This will end the 38-night run for Bentleyville this year. The attraction has lit up the Duluth harbor area for 21 years.

(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesotans are experiencing higher levels of isolation and loneliness than ever before. This is the key finding from a recent survey titled “Minds of Minnesotans,” conducted by the APM Research Lab between July and November. The survey included responses from over 3,000 Minnesotans regarding their feelings of loneliness, isolation, and lack of companionship. Approximately 45 percent of participants reported feeling isolated from others sometimes or often. Additionally, 48 percent indicated that they frequently feel left out and struggle to find companionship. The age group most affected by these feelings of isolation is those between 18 and 27 years old.
