(Minneapolis, MN) — Vance Boelter, the man accused of killing House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband and shooting Senator John Hoffman and his wife, is in federal court today. The status hearing will determine the next steps in the case. Boelter has pleaded not guilty to all charges and his defense is requesting more time to review the evidence. There’s a pretrial hearing in May.

(St. Paul, MN) — Thousands of people are in St. Paul this week for the Minnesota Girl’s State High School Hockey Tournament. Jaimee Lucke Hendrikson of Visit St. Paul says tournament time is exciting. She says” it is a huge impact to be able to bring people here for an event and then have them stay and spend their time and their money here.” Hendrikson says the Visit St. Paul website has a landing page for hockey fans with information about local events, restaurants, and activities. The girl’s hockey semifinals are being played today (Fri) at Grand Casino Arena.

(Milan, IT) — The U-S men’s hockey team plays Slovakia today (Fri 2:10pm) in the Olympic semifinals in Milan. The winner advances to the gold medal game on Sunday. Wild defenseman Quinn Hughes scored the game-winning goal in Team U-S-A’s 2-1 quarterfinal victory over Sweden on Wednesday. Canada faces Finland in the other Olympic semifinal. The Americans haven’t won gold since the ‘Miracle on Ice’ at Lake Placid, New York in 1980.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Timberwolves return from the All-Star break tonight (Fri 6:30pm) with a home game against the Dallas Mavericks. Anthony Edwards was named the M-V-P of the N-B-A All-Star Game in L-A on Sunday. The Wolves last game was a 133-109 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on February 11th. Dallas star rookie Cooper Flagg has been ruled out for tonight at Target Center. The Mavs have lost nine in a row.
