>>State Patrol Investigating Deadly Crash near Cold Spring 

(Cold Spring, MN) —  The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a deadly crash Monday night near Cold Spring in Stearns County. The report says an S-U-V driven by a Wisconsin man was traveling east in the westbound lanes of Highway 23 when it struck a westbound vehicle driven by a man from Richmond.  No word yet on who died in the crash. Troopers are expected to release more information this afternoon. 

 

>>No Arrests in Morrison County Attempted ATM Theft

(Morrison County, MN) — The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office and Pierz Police Department are searching for the suspect(s) involved in an attempted ATM theft. Officials say around 11:16 p.m. Monday, the suspect(s) hooked a chain to an ATM and pulled it with a stolen truck. The suspect(s) fled before loading the ATM. The vehicle is described as a light-colored, newer model SUV with LED headlights. Anyone with information is asked to call 320-632-9233.

(Undated) – Elon Musk, the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), recently warned federal workers that they could face termination if they did not respond to an email inquiring about the work they accomplished in the past week. On Monday, he stated that those who failed to reply would be given another opportunity to do so at the discretion of President Donald Trump. Republican Congressman Tom Emmer agrees with this strategy, saying, “There’s a reason why they’re losing their jobs because we don’t need them.” Over the weekend, Senator Tina Smith responded to Musk’s request on X, saying, “This is the ultimate dick-boss move from Musk. Except he isn’t even the boss, he’s just a dick.” 

 

>>High Home Prices Affecting First-Time Buyers

(Undated) – Housing affordability is impacting first-time home buyers. Patti Jo Fitzpatrick, president of Minnesota Realtors says when you add up taxes, insurance, and other costs, your mortgage monthly payment is anywhere from $2,500-$2,800. She says additionally, repairs and other impromptu costs pop up. The statewide median home price sits at 330,000 dollars. 

 

>>Bill to Pause NorthStar Light Rail Project Stalls in House

(St. Paul, MN) – Once again a Republican-backed bill in the House doesn’t pass, missing by just one vote. The proposed bill would pause light rail projects so more studies can be done. Democrats like Erin Koegel say, “Us coming in and telling people what they want, what they need, what they deserve is really kind of shameful.” He believes it also isn’t fair to voters in the north metro who benefit from the service. The bill didn’t pass and was tabled for further discussion. 

 

>>Beargrease Marathon Moves Starting Line

(Duluth, MN) — The John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon will begin in Two Harbors on Sunday due to warm temperatures. The race usually begins at Billy’s in Duluth, but the weekend warmup pushed organizers to change it for a “safe and competitive trail.” The marathon was already moved from January 26th to this Sunday due to a lack of snow earlier this year. 

 

>>Happy Together Tour Coming to Minnesota State Fair in August 

(Falcon Heights, MN) — The Happy Together Tour 2025 is coming to the Minnesota State Fair this summer. The lineup for the August 25th Grandstand concert includes The Turtles, Jay and the Americans, Little Anthony, Gary Puckett & the Union Gap, The Vogues, and The Cowsills. The Happy Together show was canceled at last year’s State Fair due to severe thunderstorms. Tickets for this year’s concert go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.
