A spokesperson for the governor says Walz will instead use his time to explore the possibility of another term as Minnesota governor. Walz ran an unsuccessful campaign for Vice President in 2024. The statement says the Governor does not plan to endorse any candidate in the primary race. Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan announced she will run for the Senate in 2026. Republicans Royce White and Adam Schwarze have also entered the race. Senator Tina Smith is retiring from the position.

(St. Louis Park, MN) — Authorities in St. Louis Park are investigating a deadly house fire. Police and firefighters entered the burning home late Tuesday night and found a man dead. Officers say nothing appeared suspicious, but the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office is working with the St. Louis Park Fire Department to determine the cause. The Hennepin County medical examiner is expected to identify the victim and his cause of death.

(Moorhead, MN) — Court documents show a Moorhead man charged in a fatal crash north of Moorhead last Saturday night was drinking at Buffalo Wild Wings in Moorhead shortly before the collision on Highway 75. 28-year-old Christopher Pink is charged with vehicular homicide in the death of 43-year-old Jennifer Watson, who lived north of Moorhead. The State Patrol says Pink was in the wrong lane when the pickup he was driving collided with Watson’s SUV. At the scene, the complaint says Pink denied that he’d been drinking. Watson’s dog also died of injuries suffered in the crash.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Minneapolis’ Nicollet Avenue is getting a well-needed makeover, including housing, retail businesses, and a park with green space. This comes after the Nicollet Kmart was destroyed in a 2023 fire and ultimately demolished. The blueprint needs to be approved by the Minneapolis City Council and Mayor Jacob Frey before construction begins.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The University of Minnesota women’s basketball team is hosting Washington tonight (Wednesday at 7 p.m.) in the final regular season game at Williams Arena. Five Golden Gopher players will be honored on Senior Night. Minnesota improved to 7-and-9 in the Big Ten with a 74-61 win at Purdue last Wednesday. The Huskies are 8-and-8 in conference play.
