>>Supreme Court to Hear Arguments Thursday in House GOP vs. Steve Simon

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Supreme Court will hear arguments Thursday in House Republicans’ lawsuit against Secretary of State Steve Simon. G-O-P leaders claim that it is unconstitutional for Secretary Simon not to allow motions on the House floor. Simon has been adjourning the House every day because he says the 67 Republican members present are not enough to conduct official business. Two weeks ago, the state Supreme Court ruled that 68 members are required for a quorum. The G-O-P wants to hold Democrats accountable for refusing to show up at the State Capitol this session. They are also calling for fines for absent D-F-L members.
