(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life is expecting thousands of people at the State Capitol for today’s (Mon 12:30 pm) annual March for Life. M-C-C-L says there will be a display featuring 12 thousand life-size models of unborn children, representing each life lost to abortion in 2022. Officials say estimates indicate a more than 20 percent increase in the number of abortions in 2023. The U-S Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision on this day in 1973 legalized abortion nationwide, but that ruling was overturned by the high court in the summer of 2022.
>>Threat Prompts Wadena-Deer Creek Schools to Cancel Class
(Wadena, MN) — Classes are canceled today (Mon) for all grades at Wadena-Deer Creek Public Schools in north central Minnesota due to a reported threat. Officials say the school was made aware of a threat and they are working with area law enforcement to resolve the situation. Students and staff have the day off as a precautionary measure. Classes are scheduled to resume on Tuesday. No further information is being released.
>>Princeton Volunteers Want Fire Chief Terminated
(Princeton, MN) — Fire volunteers in Princeton are reportedly so dissatisfied with the leadership of their fire department that they want the chief fired. Thirty-three of the 36 volunteers who work for the department recently delivered a letter to the city council saying they had no confidence in Chief Ron Lawrence. The firefighters say they don’t trust Lawrence with their safety and accuse him of failing to communicate with them. If Lawrence isn’t fired by February 8th, the firefighters say they will quit. City leaders say they can’t fire Lawrence based on the threat of a walkout and instead plan to conduct a workplace assessment to address the situation.

(St. Paul, MN) — The state’s Pollution Control Agency wants to educate Minnesotans about the damage salt can do to freshwater ecosystems. The agency is hosting a livestream every day this week as part of Winter Salt Awareness Week. Each 30-minute session will start at 12:30 and will also be posted to YouTube for later viewing. (Minneapolis, MN) — Inspection of the Stone Arch Bridge in Minneapolis is expected to get underway today. The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced a 26-million-dollar repair project last fall. The work will officially start this spring and it’s expected to be completed in 2026.
