(Hazel Run, MN) — The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Department reports that two individuals found unconscious in a hog barn near Clarkfield on Saturday are now recovering at home after their hospital stay. The victims have been identified as 32-year-old Luke Stevens and 30-year-old Melissa Stevens, both from rural Hazel Run, located southeast of Clarkfield. The couple was cleaning the hog barn when they lost consciousness. A third person discovered them, removed them from the barn, and called 911.

(St. Paul, MN) – Minnesota House Republicans have filed a petition response to the lawsuits filed by Secretary of State Steve Simon and DFL House Leader Melissa Hortman. Those parties filed a lawsuit with the Minnesota Supreme Court, saying that the Republicans are unlawfully holding quorums and electing leaders without enough members currently seated in the House. Today’s petition response asks the court to dismiss or deny the lawsuits because Republicans say they are acting within their rights of Minnesota law. The Supreme Court is expected to hear oral arguments on this case Thursday.

(Washington, D.C.) — Over a dozen Minnesotans convicted or otherwise charged in the January 6th, 2021, Capitol insurrection are now pardoned. President Donald Trump announced the pardon of more than 15 hundred January 6th rioters on day one of his presidency. Among those is former Minneapolis resident 45-year-old Brian Mock. He was sentenced to three years in prison for assaulting four police officers and carrying a baton as a weapon.

(Dover, MN) — A man faces a litany of charges after allegedly stealing a vehicle and fleeing police yesterday (MON). Olmsted County deputies responded to an area in Dover around 10 a.m. on a report of a man sleeping inside a stolen vehicle. The 47-year-old Jeremy Kirkham man fled once officials arrived but was quickly arrested. 15 grams of methamphetamine were found on his person.

(Fridley, MN) — Anoka County authorities say one driver is under arrest after a deadly crash Monday in Fridley. Deputies say an S-U-V crashed into a car, and both vehicles left the roadway. The driver of the car died at the scene. The man driving the S-U-V was treated for injuries at the hospital and then booked in the Anoka County jail. Investigators haven’t said why the man was taken into custody.

(Iowa City, IA) — The University of Minnesota men’s basketball team plays the Iowa Hawkeyes tonight (Tues 8 pm) in Iowa City. The Golden Gophers upset number-20 Michigan 84-81 in overtime at Williams Arena last Thursday. The Hawkeyes lost back-to-back road games at U-S-C and U-C-L-A the previous week. Minnesota is 1-and-6 in the Big Ten, while Iowa is 3-and-4 against conference opponents.
