(Eagan, MN) – Police in Eagan say the body of the missing man has been recovered from the Minnesota River. 43-year-old Valentin Ramos was reported missing by his family on Saturday. Officers say his body was located in the river Monday evening near Highways 55 and 5. Foul play is not suspected in the death of Ramos.

(Rochester, MN) — The family of a man who died in the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center in March of 2023 is suing the county and the medical services company that staffs the jail. The wrongful death lawsuit filed yesterday claims deputies and a nurse dismissed 59-year-old Melvin Bush’s stomach issue as a sign of drug withdrawal. It was later determined that the inmate died from a perforated ulcer. The suit also claims that staff checked on Bush several times but never adequately assessed him or sought more medical attention.

(Minneapolis, MN) — A Nebraska man has pleaded guilty to two violent Minnesota carjackings last year, prompting federal charges. On June 16th, 31-year-old Nathan Sughroue approached his first victim with a knife, physically removing her from her black Hyundai. Shakopee Police saw the car shortly after and attempted a traffic stop, but Sughroue fled. He drove the car to a Bloomington gas station, where he demanded keys to an SUV from his second victim. The victim refused, resulting in a fight. Sughroue stabbed the man multiple times and left him to bleed out, fleeing in the SUV. Sughroue’s sentencing will be scheduled later.

(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota health officials say milk from state cow farms will be tested for bird flu starting next month. Milk haulers already collect samples for routine testing while loading tankers at dairy farms. Some raw milk samples will go to the Minnesota Veterinary Diagnostic Lab for H5N1 tests. State officials have not reported a human case of bird flu.

(St. Cloud, MN) — Police in St. Cloud are looking for the man who robbed a convenience store at gunpoint over the weekend. The store clerk at 9th Avenue Express told officers the man displayed a handgun, demanded money, and then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. The victim was not injured in the holdup Saturday night. The St. Cloud PD and Tri-County Crimestoppers are asking the public for information about the incident.

(Minneapolis, MN) – University of Minnesota men’s basketball forward Dawson Garcia is being honored as the Big Ten Player of the Week. Garcia averaged 25.5 points in the Golden Gophers’ wins at Iowa and at home over then-15th-ranked Oregon on Saturday. He scored 31 points in the victory over the Ducks before the crowd stormed the court at Williams Arena. Minnesota plays tonight at seventh-ranked Michigan State.
