(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota House is tied again with 67 Democrats and 67 Republicans following two special elections Tuesday. D-F-L candidate Meg Luger-Nikolai defeated G-O-P candidate Dan Walsh for the House District 64-A seat of former state Representative Kaohly (Kuh-lee) Her, who was elected mayor of St. Paul. Democrat Shelley Buck ran unopposed for the House District 47-A seat in the Woodbury and Maplewood area. Buck will replace former Representative and current state Senator Amanda Hemmingsen-Jaeger. The D-F-L has a 34-33 majority in the Minnesota Senate.

(Fosston, MN) — State Senator Steve Green of Fosston says he is seeking re-election to a second term representing District 2 in northwestern Minnesota. District 2 includes Lake of the Woods, Beltrami, Clearwater, and Mahnomen Counties, along with parts of Cass, Itasca, Hubbard, and Becker Counties. Green highlights his focus on government efficiency, reducing fraud, and addressing what he describes as regulatory burdens affecting businesses. He also pointed to public safety and state agency accountability as priorities. Green was first elected to the Senate in 2022. He currently serves on the Environment, Energy, and Commerce committees.

Families hesitate to leave their homes for work, school, or to run basic errands.” Council members say, “this community belongs to everyone who calls it home.”

(Madison, WI) — Wisconsin Congressman and Republican candidate for governor Tom Tiffany is calling for a full investigation into the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti by federal agents in Minneapolis. Tiffany said in Madison that he had not yet seen video of the incident but wants both state and federal officials involved in the investigation. Pretti was shot by federal agents during an encounter Saturday. Tiffany says he’s reserving judgment until professionals complete a thorough investigation.

(Washington, DC) — A federal judge in Oregon has dismissed a Justice Department lawsuit seeking access to the state’s unredacted voter registration records. U-S District Judge Mustafa Kasubhai granted Oregon’s request to dismiss the case and is expected to issue a written opinion soon. Kasubhai also questioned the relevance of a recent letter from Attorney General Pam Bondi to Governor Tim Walz, in which Bondi linked reduced federal immigration enforcement to providing D-O-J access to Minnesota’s voter rolls. He ordered attorneys to address the letter’s relevance during proceedings. The ruling marks another setback for the Trump administration’s efforts to obtain detailed voter data from states nationwide.

(Park Rapids, MN) — The Minnesota State Patrol says an 80-year-old woman from Nevis (NEE’-viss) is dead after a head-on crash Tuesday on Highway 34 near Park Rapids. Troopers say her eastbound car crossed the center line shortly after noon and collided with a westbound pickup. The pickup driver, 85-year-old Noel Francis Sletten of Park Rapids, was taken to a Fargo, North Dakota hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries. The woman’s name is expected to be released this afternoon (Wed).

(Grand Portage, MN) — Musher Ryan Anderson and his team are the winners of the 2026 John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon in northeastern Minnesota. Anderson reached the finish line in Grand Portage Tuesday afternoon about two-and-a-half minutes before reigning champ Erin Aili. The St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin native becomes the most decorated musher in Beargrease history with wins in 2026, 2022, 2017, 2015, and 2011.

(Madison, WI) — The University of Minnesota men’s basketball team to looks to snap a five-game skid when it plays tonight (Wed 8pm) at border rival Wisconsin. The Golden Gophers are coming off a 76-57 home loss to number five Nebraska on Saturday. The Badgers beat Minnesota 78-75 on a buzzer-beater, three-pointer on January 13th at Williams Arena. Wisconsin lost to U-S-C 73-71 on Sunday.
