(Hastings, MN) — One of Minnesota’s most notable wrestlers is remembering wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, who died Thursday at age 71. Jim Raschke (RASH-key) of Hastings—better known as Baron Von Raschke—wrestled alongside Hogan in the early 1980s when the Hulk first joined the Minneapolis-based AWA. Raschke called Hogan a true showman and said he successfully bridged the golden era of wrestling with today’s modern, flashier style. Hogan, whose real name was Terry Bollea (bo-LAY-ah), became one of the most iconic figures in WWE history.

(Watkins, MN) — Two people were arrested and a Meeker County deputy was injured during an incident in Watkins Thursday evening. Deputies responded around 6:15 p.m. to a report of an intoxicated man. They say 61-year-old Tim Dobis had entered a home where 46-year-old Danielle Rose was also present, despite a court order barring contact between them. When a deputy tried to arrest Dobis, he ran. The deputy caught him but was injured in the struggle and later treated for a fractured shoulder. Dobis faces several charges. Rose was also arrested for violating the same court order.

(Nisswa, MN) — A young rider is hospitalized with serious injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash Thursday night in the Brainerd Lakes area near Nisswa. The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office says a cycle driven by 18-year-old Ty Wilson left a county road, crossed several driveways, and struck an address sign before coming to rest in a yard. Deputies say Wilson was taken to a Brainerd hospital for treatment of severe injuries.

(Duluth, MN) — Police in Duluth say a man is in custody following a domestic assault call this morning (Fri). Officers set up a perimeter and located a woman outside the home with injuries. The 37-year-old suspect was arrested nearby and taken to jail on suspicion of felony assault. The report says the alleged victim was treated for her injuries at the scene.

(St. Paul, MN) – The emerald ash borer (EAB) has been confirmed in Itasca County, marking the 59th Minnesota county affected since the invasive pest was first detected in 2009. A homeowner near Pokegama Lake, south of Grand Rapids, reported the infestation, which a DNR forest health specialist verified. EAB larvae kill ash trees by tunneling under the bark and disrupting the tree’s nutrient flow. Officials urge residents to report signs of EAB and avoid moving firewood to help slow the spread.

(Minneapolis, MN) — An agreement signed Thursday in north Minneapolis will fund construction on an eight-thousand-seat amphitheater along the Mississippi River. The project recently received a 12-million-dollar state grant. Officials say the Community Performing Arts Center is a major milestone for the Upper Harbor Terminal redevelopment. First Avenue and the Minnesota Orchestra will run the outdoor concert venue. The amphitheater is scheduled to start hosting events in 2027.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Twins are back at Target Field tonight (Fri 7 pm) to open an interleague series with the Washington Nationals.
