>>CHS to Permanently Close Superior Grain Terminal in Twin Ports

(Superior, WI) — The largest grain shipping terminal in the Twin Ports is shutting down at the end of August. C-H-S informed the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development that it is permanently closing the Superior terminal, but the company hasn’t publicly announced the move. At least 23 union employees will be impacted. The Duluth Seaway Port Authority called it ” a disappointing blow to the Port of Duluth-Superior and the community as a whole.” Officials say they will work with the city of Superior to seek solutions that could lead to a more positive outcome and hopefully continued use of the terminal.

(Savage, MN) — A man from Prior Lake lost his life in a motorcycle crash Thursday afternoon in Scott County. The incident occurred around 1:50 p.m. at an intersection in Savage. According to the State Patrol, 54-year-old David of Prior Lake was heading south on Hwy. 13 and collided with a car being driven by 19-year-old Chantelle Hanson of Shakopee. Sampson died soon after the crash. The patrol said he was not wearing a helmet. Hanson was not injured.

(Maple Grove, MN) — Democrat Kristy Janigo officially launched her Minnesota Senate campaign Thursday night with a rally in Maple Grove. Janigo, a veteran and county veterans service officer, says her experience provides her with a unique perspective on the needs of veterans. “Veterans’ issues are complicated… I think I can bring something a little special when it comes to helping tell the story of what the veteran needs are.”
Janigo is challenging longtime Republican Senator Warren Limmer, who’s held the District 37 seat since 1995.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minneapolis City Council has unanimously approved a measure to raise the minimum price of e-cigarettes to $25, a significant increase from the previous minimum of just under $9. City officials say the move is aimed at curbing youth access to vaping products and encouraging adults to quit. The new pricing regulation is expected to take effect by the end of the month, pending Mayor Jacob Frey’s signature.

The opener features two All-Star pitchers – Joe Ryan starts for the Twins, and Paul Skenes (SKEENS) is on the mound for the Pirates. Skenes has a 1.94 earned run average and 125 strikeouts, but a 4-and-7 record this season. Ryan is 8-and-4 with a 2.76 E-R-A. Pittsburgh is 0-and-6 on this road trip. This is the last series before the M-L-B All-Star break.
