>>Boelter Facing First Degree Murder Charges in Lawmakers’ Shootings

(Undated) – Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty says her office will seek first-degree murder charges against 57-year-old Vance Boelter, the man accused of killing State Representative Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark, and shooting and gravely injuring Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette. Moriarty explains that second-degree murder charges were originally filed to allow them to obtain a nationwide arrest warrant quickly, and are the highest charges they can file by complaint. Boelter is scheduled to make his first court appearance this afternoon at 1:30.

 

>>MSP Investigate Fatal Anoka County Crash

(East Bethel, MN) — The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a crash in Anoka County last week that killed a Minneapolis woman. Anoka deputies responded to a traffic crash around 10:30 a.m. on Friday in East Bethel. Investigators say a pickup truck, driven by 28-year-old Jeremy Lind of Oak Grove, was heading south on Highway 65 when it crashed into the back of an SUV, which then flipped over in a ditch. The SUV driver, 74-year-old Audrey Evans, was pronounced dead at the scene. Lind suffered minor injuries, which were treated at the scene. No other information is available.

 

>>No Arrests in St. Paul Shooting That Left Woman with Life-Threatening Injuries 

(St. Paul, MN) — No arrests were made, and a woman was hospitalized after a shooting in St. Paul on Friday. Officers responded to a shooting report around 11:30 p.m. They found a woman with multiple gunshot wounds, some life-threatening. She was brought to a hospital, and her condition is unknown.

 

>>Man in Custody After Maple Grove Police Standoff

(Maple Grove, MN) — A man is in custody after allegedly shooting someone in Maple Grove on Sunday, leading to a police standoff. Officers responded to a report of a person with a gun around 7:30 p.m. Officials say the man fired at someone, but it’s unknown if there were any injuries. On arrival, the suspect fled into his home. A standoff continued until 6:30 this morning, then the man was arrested without incident.  

 

>>Eagan Shelter-In-Place Not Related to State Lawmakers’ Shootings

(Eagan, MN) — Eagan is sheltering in place for an “emergency situation” that is unrelated to Saturday’s shootings that killed Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark, and severely injured Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette. Otherwise, it’s unknown what the incident is or who it involves. Police say residents in and around Lexington Avenue and Falcon Way should stay away from doors and windows. 

 

>>Minnesota Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Dealing Meth in Wisconsin 

(Madison, WI) — A man from Minnesota will spend 10 years in federal prison for dealing large amounts of methamphetamine in Wisconsin. Prosecutors in Madison say 32-year-old Xa Xiong of St. Paul pleaded guilty to distributing meth in February. A search of a storage unit in Eau Claire last July led to a backpack containing six pounds of meth. Xiong sold a pound to an undercover officer in Menomonie and was arrested trying to sell two pounds of meth to the same officer a week later.  

 

>>Minnesota Twins Off Monday Following Sweep in Houston 

(Cincinnati, OH) — The Minnesota Twins are off today after getting swept in a three-game series in Houston. The Twins dropped the series finale 2-1 in 10 innings on Sunday afternoon. The team placed third baseman Royce Lewis on the 10-day injured list with a strained hamstring. Lewis suffered the latest injury running the bases Friday night against the Astros. The Twins open a three-game interleague series Tuesday night against the Cincinnati Reds in Ohio.
