(Undated) — The children of fallen DFL House Speaker Melissa Hortman want everyone to know they are both safe and with loved ones. “Sophie and Colin Hortman say they are devastated and heartbroken at the loss of their parents. They’re asking people who would like to honor the memory of Mark and Melissa to consider doing seven things: plant a tree, visit a local park or bike trail, pet a dog, tell a cheesy dad joke, bake something, try a new hobby, and stand up for what you believe in especially if that thing is justice and peace.
The Hortman kids say they are grateful for the outpouring of love and support they have received.

(Eyota, MN) — Authorities say there was no sign of forced entry in a break-in at the Eyota Food Pantry in southeastern Minnesota. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office believes the crime happened sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning. Pantry officials report roughly one thousand pounds of food was stolen, including all items from a freezer. (Washington, D.C.) — Democratic Senator Tina Smith is calling Republican Senator Mike Lee of Utah over social media posts she says mock the recent deadly shooting of a Minnesota lawmaker. Smith says Lee crossed a line by posting, “This is what happens when Marxists don’t get their way,” and later, “Nightmare on Walz Street.” She confronted Lee on the Senate floor, telling him his words were painful and wrong. According to Smith, Lee offered no apology.

(St. Paul, MN) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is increasing water releases at Lac qui Parle(Lack-Kwih-Parl) Dam from 2,500 up to 6,000 cubic feet per second starting June 20. This is to prevent the reservoir from overtopping its emergency spillway. The higher releases may cause localized flooding along the Minnesota River downstream. Officials expect river levels to return to normal by mid-July and advise caution in the area.
