>>Bernie Sanders to Headline No Kings State Capitol Rally

(St. Paul, MN) — Vermont Senator and two-time presidential candidate Bernie Sanders will headline the No Kings rally on Saturday at the State Capitol. The lineup of speakers already includes Academy Award-winning actress and anti-war activist Jane Fonda, and 1960s folk musician and activist Joan Baez. Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison are among the scheduled speakers. Protesters will gather at Harriet Island Regional Park at noon and then march to Saint Paul College and the State Capitol for a 2 p.m. program.

(Minneapolis, MN) — A young survivor of last year’s shooting at Annunciation Catholic School is being honored with a national award for heroism. The Congressional Medal of Honor Society has chosen ten‑year‑old Victor Greenawalt as a Citizen Honors Award recipient. Greenawalt shielded a friend with his own body during the attack, an act a panel of Medal of Honor recipients says showed “extraordinary bravery beyond his years.”

(Thief River Falls, MN) — A Red Lake woman is the victim of a deadly rollover crash Sunday near Thief River Falls in Pennington County. The Minnesota State Patrol says a van driven by 35-year-old Florence Ruby Rose Strong went across Highway 89 and rolled into some trees in a wooded area. The report says Strong died at the scene and was not wearing a seat belt. Investigators are trying to determine whether alcohol was involved.

(Minneapolis) – The first Somali-American woman elected to the Minnesota Senate has announced her re-election campaign. Senator Zaynab (Zay-nab) Mohamed represents the district that includes south Minneapolis. Her campaign announcement says Mohamed received more votes in 2022 than any other Minnesota senator. She is currently the Co-chair of the Senate Working Group on Gun Violence Prevention and the Vice Chair of the Jobs and Economic Development Committee. She was first elected in 2022.

T-L-C and Salt-N-Pepa with En Vogue are performing at the ‘It’s Iconic’ show on September 5th. T-L-C is the best-selling American women’s group of all time, but lost rapper Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez in a 2002 car crash in Honduras. Cheryl “Salt” James, Sandra “Pepa” Denton, and D-J “Spinderella” Roper were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year. Tickets for It’s Iconic go on sale this Thursday.
