>>Minnesota Jobs, Labor Force Remain Steady in February
(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota’s job market remained stable in February. Over the month, employers shed 700 jobs, effectively flat over the month. The state’s unemployment rate held steady at 3.0% for the fifth month in a row. This compares with the national jobless rate of 4.1%. Minnesota’s labor force participation rate also remained at 68.1% in February, compared to 62.4% nationally. Over the year, Minnesota employers added 40,600 jobs.
>>Unresponsive Man Pulled From Red River in Moorhead
(Moorhead, MN) — A man was pulled from the Red River in Moorhead Wednesday afternoon. Around 4:30 p.m., Moorhead Police responded to a missing person report and found him unresponsive in the river. Multiple agencies responded, and the man was pulled from the water. He was taken by ambulance to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo. The man’s condition hasn’t been released, nor is other information available.
>>Owatonna Man to be Sentenced in 1974 Murder
(Undated) — An Owatonna man will be sentenced today (THURS, 2 p.m.) for the murder of a Minneapolis woman in February 1974. 25-year-old Mary Schlais was fatally stabbed while hitchhiking from Minneapolis to Chicago for an art show. Her body was found on a road in Dunn County, Wisconsin. Genetic testing of a stocking cap left at the scene led to the November 2024 arrest of 84-year-old Jon Miller. He entered a plea and will be sentenced at 2 p.m.
>>Lawmakers Consider New Loan Program to Help Address Need for Housing
(St. Paul, MN) – Lawmakers at the State Capitol are looking to create a $10 million loan program to help afford housing in Minnesota. DFL Representative Esther Agbaje of Minneapolis says the state’s budget situation poses challenges, but it’s best to look at where the state can get the most for its investment. Agbaje’s bill would create a program allowing local governments to create permanently affordable homes. Agbaje says that could help fill the gaps left when the private sector can’t or doesn’t want to build housing. The bill was laid over for possible inclusion in a larger bill.
>>State Fair Century Farms Announced
(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota State Fair and the Minnesota Farm Bureau recognize 77 Minnesota farms as 2025 Century Farms. Qualifying farms have been in continuous family ownership for at least 100 years and are 50 acres or more. Since the program began in 1976, more than 11,000 Minnesota farms have been recognized as Century Farms. More information on this year’s Century Farms is available on the State Fair’s website.
>>Ordway Announces 2025/2026 Series
(St. Paul, MN) — Seven hit musicals will be coming to St. Paul as part of a Broadway series. The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts has announced its 2025 – 2026 Broadway at the Ordway lineup. The season starts with the creepy and kooky family, The Addams Family, on September 30th. The other shows in the series are The Notebook, Sister Act, Kimberly Akimbo, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Spamalot, and SIX wraps up the season in June next year. In addition, the Ordway announced the return of its popular Ordway Presents Series. Those shows include Classic Albums Live: The Rolling Stones’ Sticky Fingers, the Eagles’ Greatest Hits, and Syncopated Ladies Live, with more shows still to come.

(St. Paul, MN) — Tonight’s game between the Minnesota Wild and Washington Capitals at the Xcel Energy Center will get some added attention. Caps forward Alexander Ovechkin (OH’-vetch-kin) needs just six goals to break Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky’s all-time record of 894. On Tuesday, Ovechkin netted his 889th goal in Washington’s overtime loss to Winnipeg. The Capitals have 11 games remaining in the regular season. The Wild look to snap a two-game losing streak tonight (Thurs) at 6:30 pm in St. Paul.
