(Atwater, MN) — U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar toured Bushmills Ethanol on Monday, highlighting the role of Minnesota-made biofuels in lowering gas prices and strengthening domestic energy production. Klobuchar joined leaders from the Minnesota Bio-Fuels Association and the ethanol industry to discuss how homegrown fuels support farmers, create jobs, and offer more affordable options at the pump. Bushmills Ethanol, a farmer-owned cooperative in Atwater, produces ethanol, distillers’ grains, and corn oil while supporting agricultural markets statewide.

(Washington, DC) — Ranking Democrat Angie Craig and members of the House Ag Committee are urging the U-S-D-A to take immediate action to stabilize fertilizer prices.  In a letter to Secretary Brooke Rollins, they blame the war in Iran and the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz (HOR’-mooz) for severe global supply disruptions. The lawmakers write, “blocked shipments of urea and ammonia, port backlogs, and shutdowns at regional production facilities are cascading into higher input costs for U-S farmers as planting season begins “

>>Vigil Planned for Missing Brooklyn Park Man

(Brooklyn Park, MN) — Family and friends are holding a candlelight vigil tonight (TUES) as they continue searching for 27-year-old Jontae Brandon Lee. Family says Lee left his Brooklyn Park home with a friend on March 10th. The two were involved in an altercation, and the friend later called 9-1-1. Lee was last seen near Maryland Avenue and 71st Avenue, wearing a white t-shirt and tan pants. Today is also Lee’s birthday. The vigil is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. at Wagner’s Drive-In in Brooklyn Park.

>>Barn Fire Reported Near Dent; No Injuries or Animal Loss

(Dent, MN) — No animals were lost Monday night in a barn fire near Dent. According to the
Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, the fire originated in the upper hay loft area of the barn and caused moderate damage. The fire doesn’t appear suspicious, and the cause remains under investigation.
