>>Minnesota Senate Considers ICE Warrant Requirement

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Senate is expected to vote on a bill requiring federal immigration agents to obtain a judicial warrant before entering schools, hospitals, and courthouses. Supporters rallied at the Capitol today, urging passage of the measure. Parent advocate Anna Stahlmann says lawmakers “looked away” when families needed protection. Healthcare worker Julia Martinez says clearer policies are needed to guide staff if ICE appears at workplaces. The proposal has stalled in a House committee.

>>NWS Warning of Flooding in Parts of the Boundary Waters

(Duluth, MN) — The National Weather Service is warning of flooding in portions of the Boundary Waters as rising water levels continue to impact the region. A flood advisory remains in effect until 3:45 p.m. today. The U.S. Forest Service says water levels could surpass the flooding seen during the spring of 2022 and June of 2024. Visitors are being warned to expect high, fast-moving, and extremely cold water conditions that could flood campsites, portages, and trails. Meteorologists with the National Weather Service in Duluth say a combination of rapid snowmelt and heavy rain in late April and early May is driving the high water levels.

>>Truck Damaged After Being Struck by Train Near Dent

(Dent, MN) — A pickup truck was heavily damaged after being struck by a train near Dent. According to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, dispatch received a report around 11:45 p.m. Friday from Canadian Pacific Railroad employees saying a train had collided with a pickup near the city limits. Authorities say the truck was unoccupied at the time of the crash. The owner was identified as 23-year-old Drey Roberts of Wadena. Officials say Roberts was later contacted and confirmed to be uninjured. No injuries were reported among train employees, and no damage was reported to the tracks or train. The collision remains under investigation.

(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota food and beverage companies are getting national attention at one of the country’s largest food industry events. The Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s Make It Minnesota program is helping eleven emerging and established brands showcase their products at the 2026 National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago, May 16th through the 19th. The companies are part of the “A Taste of the States” pavilion and will connect with buyers from restaurants, hotels, airlines, and other foodservice industries across the country.

>>Pickup Driver Killed in Metro Transit Bus Collision in South Minneapolis

(Minneapolis, MN) – A pickup driver is dead after colliding with a Metro Transit bus this morning (Mon) in south Minneapolis.  Police say the pickup was speeding when it
failed to obey a stop sign and was struck by the bus.  The pickup driver died at the scene.  The bus crashed into the corner of a house, and the driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  No passengers were on the bus at the time.

(Undated) – State leaders say partnerships are key to helping Minnesota veterans find work. DEED Veterans Employment Director Ray Douha says collaboration with veterans’ groups, colleges, and local service officers ensures service members get the support they need. Through CareerForce locations, veterans can access resume help, training, and long-term employment guidance. Douha says the state also provides “wraparound services,” from mock interviews to career exploration. An upcoming veterans career fair on May 20th in Brooklyn Center will feature about 100 employers ready to hire, along with free resume reviews and services for veterans and their families.

>>Wild and Avs Play Game 4 at Grand Casino Arena

(St. Paul, MN)  —  The Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche play Game 4 of their second-round playoff series tonight (Mon 7pm) in St. Paul.  The Wild skated past the Avs 5-1 on Saturday night at Grand Casino Arena.   Minnesota scored a pair of power play goals, went two-for-three on the penalty kill, and Jesper Wallstedt made 35 saves.  The Wild trail Colorado two games-to-one in the best-of-seven series.
