(West St. Paul, MN) — West St. Paul police search for a missing man. 43-year-old John McTaggart was last seen on May 5th. He’s described as white, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 178 pounds, with big curly hair with dark streaks of blue and purple, a brown beard with a white patch above the lip, and blue eyes. McTaggart is known to wear acid-wash blue jeans, black high-top shoes, and many necklaces and bracelets. He has two nose piercings and gauges for earrings.

 

>>Young Man Fatally Shot in South Minneapolis

(Minneapolis, MN) — A man in his late teens is dead after an early morning shooting in south Minneapolis. Police responded to reports of shots fired around 2:20. Officers found the victim with a life-threatening gunshot wound lying next to a vehicle. Despite life-saving aid, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe the man was driving after an altercation when hit by gunfire, causing his vehicle to crash into an empty parked car. A female passenger was uninjured. No arrests have been made.

 

>>Fatal Shooting of Child in Willmar

(Willmar, MN) – Police are investigating the shooting death of a child Monday night in Willmar. On arrival, officers found an unresponsive juvenile boy. Despite medical attention, he died at the scene. Police do not believe the shooting is random and say there is no public threat. No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Willmar Police.

 

>>Renville Man Convicted of 2nd Degree Murder in August 2021 Fatal Shooting 

(Olivia, MN) — A southern Minnesota man will be sentenced June 17th on a second-degree murder conviction in Renville County. A jury found 29-year-old Julian Valdez guilty Monday in the August 2021 fatal shooting of 31-year-old Pablo Gutierrez. Valdez reportedly shot Gutierrez because he was assaulting his stepbrother. This was the second trial for Valdez. He was convicted in July 2022, but the verdict was appealed, and the Minnesota Supreme Court ordered a new trial.

 

>>Extreme Fire Risk for 65 Counties, Special Weather for 12

(Undated) — Extreme fire risk warnings continue today for 65 counties statewide. The Red Flag warning means fire can spread quickly and grow out of control due to low humidity, gusty winds, and dry fuels. Additionally, a Special Weather Statement has been issued for 12 counties in east-central and southeastern Minnesota, where low humidity and breezy winds are predicted to elevate fire weather conditions. The DNR discourages outdoor burning.

 

>>Minnesota Vikings to Play Back-to-Back Games in Europe This Fall 

(Eagan, MN) – The Minnesota Vikings will become the first NFL team to play consecutive international games this fall. The Purple face the Pittsburgh Steelers on September 28th in Dublin, Ireland, and the Cleveland Browns on October 5th in London, England. Both Sunday games will be played at 8:30 a.m. Minnesota time. The Vikings’ full 2025 schedule is being released at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

 

>>Farm Aid 40 Coming to U of M’s Huntington Bank Stadium in September 

(Minneapolis, MN) — The 40th annual Farm Aid concert is being held at Huntington Bank Stadium on the University of Minnesota campus this fall. Founders Willie Nelson, Neil Young, and John Mellencamp are headlining the September 20th show. The lineup also includes Dave Matthews, Billy Strings, Margo Price, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, and Trampled by Turtles from Duluth. Farm Aid 40 tickets go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m.
