Elizabeth Marie Burton was last seen leaving her Brooklyn Park home in all-black clothing on Sunday, just after midnight. She reportedly told others at her home she would meet her boyfriend, but no vehicle or partner was seen as Burton left her home.

(Rice County, MN) — A semi-truck driver with life-threatening injuries was airlifted to Rochester’s Mayo Clinic after a crash in Rice County. Deputies say the crash happened around 4:30 a.m. on I-35 near Walcott Township. 66-year-old Dan Payne was brought to Saint Marys Hospital after his semi crossed the median ditch and rolled over. Deputies say the roads were wet at the time.

(St. Paul, MN) — A St. Paul man is facing federal prison time for drunkenly brandishing a gun inside an apartment last July. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says a federal jury found 47-year-old Noel Hall guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Prosecutors say Hall barricaded himself in the apartment and engaged in a multi-hour standoff with St. Paul police. He surrendered after a SWAT team deployed a drone in the building. Officers discovered a semiautomatic pistol and a loaded magazine concealed in a bed. Hall cannot have a gun due to a previous felony drug conviction, and was on supervised release when he committed this crime.

(Washington, D.C.) — Minnesota’s Republican congressional delegation is urging committee leaders to fully defund the U.S. Department of Education. In a letter to leadership, Representatives Tom Emmer, Brad Finstad, Pete Stauber, and Michelle Fischbach requested the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies. They stated, “Dismantling the Department of Education will end federal overreach and allow states, parents, and school districts to take control of education and improve children’s learning outcomes.” State education officials say Minnesota could lose $256 million for children with disabilities and $192 million for low-income students.

(St. Paul, MN) – There could be a power struggle at the Capitol, but this one is between the Senate and the House. When it comes to health care for undocumented workers, DFL Senate Majority Leader Erin Murphy says the issue is “a sticking point, but if they want to pass that policy, it will have to be a standalone bill.” But House leaders say they stand with the budget agreement. Followed by Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman, House Speaker Lisa Demuth says she expects that Walz will uphold his part of the agreement and that “he will take the action to sign the bills, no matter how they’re presented to him.” The current budget agreement by leaders cuts health care for undocumented adults starting January 1st, 2026.
