>>Minnesota Sex Offender Program Escapee Apprehended in St. Peter
(St. Peter, MN) — Police in St. Peter say a patient who escaped from the Minnesota Sex Offender Program is back in custody. Authorities were notified that 45-year-old Beau-Jacob Zimmer escaped the facility around 1:30 this morning on a bicycle and was carrying a kitchen knife. Officers say Zimmer was apprehended around 7 am today (Fri) after being spotted walking on a county road west of St. Peter.
>>No Minnesota Flu Deaths in Weekly Report
(St. Paul, MN) — There are no new flu-related deaths in the latest weekly report from the Minnesota Department of Health. State data show influenza is blamed for 362 deaths this season. Four children have also died from the flu in Minnesota. There were 23 hospitalizations last week and no flu outbreaks in schools or long-term care facilities.

(St. Paul, MN) — The countdown to tomorrow’s fishing opener is on. DNR Commissioner Sarah Strommen says fishing significantly impacts the state’s economy. Outdoor recreation is an 11-billion-dollar industry, and fishing alone is about 4.4 billion dollars in Minnesota.
Strommen reminds Minnesota moms that you can fish without a license this Mother’s Day weekend. The Governor’s fishing opener kicked off in Cross Lake today.

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Department of Health is releasing its 2024 Drinking Water Report. Drinking Water Protection Unit Supervisor Alycia Overbo says 97% of Minnesota’s 6,500-plus water systems met federal health standards. Overbo says Minnesotans can be confident about the tap water coming into their homes and places of business. Overbo says the report also highlights some of the work being done in every corner of the state to address challenges facing drinking water.
