Prosecutors responded to these motions in documents submitted last week, urging the judge to include evidence such as blood tests and recorded conversations between Samantha and her sister. Samantha Petersen faces several serious charges, including criminal vehicular homicide and driving while impaired. She is also accused of attempting to switch places with her sister to evade arrest.

(Minneapolis, MN) — A 13-year-old boy recently released from juvenile detention in Hennepin County has gone missing. Court records say the teen stole a vehicle from his treatment provider in October as they were staying at a hotel in Bloomington. The car was found in Minneapolis, but there was no sign of the boy.

(Minneapolis, MN) — A man was shot and injured this morning (TUES) in Uptown Minneapolis while trying to help a woman following an altercation. Police responded to the incident around 12:15 a.m. The victim saw an altercation between a man and a woman and stopped to help her after the man left. The suspect came back and shot the victim as he ran for safety. The victim was brought to Hennepin Healthcare with one non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The woman’s condition is unknown. No arrests have been made.

(St. Paul, MN) — Over 32,000 St. Paul residents will be free of medical debt after Mayor Melvin Carter announced today (TUES) the cancellation of $40 million of hospital bills. Through the Medical Debt Forgiveness Plan, these bills were paid off for low-income people or those with extremely high bills. Carter’s goal for the city is to erase $110 million for S. Paul residents.

New this year, the tree will feature a dynamic light program synchronizing with holiday music. The ceremony Saturday begins at 5:30 p.m.

>>Former Gophers Darwitz & Wendell Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame

(Toronto, ON) — Former University of Minnesota All-Americans Krissy Wendell and Natalie Darwitz are among the newest Hockey Hall of Fame members. They were inducted Monday night as part of the Class of 2024. Forty-three-year-old Wendell led Park Center to its first state championship in 2000 and was named Ms. Minnesota Hockey. She won two national titles with the Gophers and the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award. Forty-one-year-old Darwitz played at Eagan High School and won two Minnesota championships. Darwitz led the Minnesota P-W-H-L team to the inaugural championship as its first general manager last year but was forced out in the offseason.
