(Paynesville, MN) — One person was injured in a crash involving a pickup truck and a tractor this morning. (Mon) According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the collision occurred just before 9:00 a.m. on Highway 23 near Paynesville. A John Deere tractor was heading north when it collided with an eastbound pickup on Highway 23. The driver of the pickup, 69-year-old Myron Roos of Paynesville, was transported to Paynesville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The tractor’s driver, 73-year-old Richard Lahr, also of Paynesville, was not injured.

(Underwood, MN) — A Fergus Falls woman died Saturday morning in a head-on collision in Otter Tail County. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 55-year-old Sandra Olson was driving eastbound on State Highway 210 near Underwood around 11 a.m. when her SUV crossed the centerline while navigating a curve. Her vehicle collided with an oncoming semi-truck. Olson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, and died at the scene. The semi was driven by 62-year-old John Mayfield of Perham. He was not injured. Emergency responders from the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, Ringdahl Ambulance, and the Underwood Fire Department assisted at the scene.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The University of Minnesota men’s basketball team opens the regular season tonight against Gardner-Webb at Williams Arena. It’s the first Gopher game for new head coach Niko Medved. The former U of M assistant and student manager was hired from Colorado State after last season. Minnesota beat North Dakota and North Dakota State in exhibition play.
