>>Daylight Saving Time Benefits
(Minneapolis, MN) — Did you wake up feeling well-rested Sunday and enjoy a bright morning today (MON)? If so, thank this year’s end to Daylight Saving Time. University of Minnesota professor and sleep expert Michael Howell says you can feel like this every day despite sleep problems if you strategize.
“Get bright light in the morning, sunlight, if possible, if you’re waking up before the sun comes up, get yourself a lightbox. Additionally, watch the caffeine, watch the alcohol in the evening, give yourself an opportunity to dim the lights down in the evenings, and do your best to minimize screen time.”
Howell says DST gives us an important look into how our circadian rhythms heavily depend on DST, as our body clocks don’t always match up with real-time, and DST helps regulate that.
>>Open Enrollment Underway
(St. Paul, MN) — Open enrollment is underway on state-run MNsure (MINN-sure), and Minnesotans needing health insurance for 2024 can now compare options and sign up. C-E-O Libby Caulum says every Minnesota county has at least two insurance companies offering plans, but almost every county has three or four available. She says, “If you come to MNsure.org and use the shop-and-compare tool, you can get a free estimate.” Just enter where you live, who’s in your household, and your total household income. There’s also a statewide network of MNsure-approved brokers to answer questions and help people decide which health insurance plan is best for them. Minnesotans must enroll by December 15th to start coverage on January 1st. Coverage will begin next February 1st for those who enroll between December 16th and January 15th.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Vikings traded for quarterback Joshua Dobbs last Tuesday but were not planning on using him in yesterday’s game at Atlanta. But, when starter Jaren Hall was injured on the opening drive, Dobbs came into the game and eventually engineered a game-winning drive in the waning seconds of a 31-28 win over the Falcons. He says he knew he had to be calm in the moment. Dobbs was 20-for-30 for 158 yards and two passing touchdowns, while also rushing for 66 yards and another score. The Vikings are now 5-and-4 on the season and will host the Saints on Sunday.
