(Red Wing, MN) — The death of a juvenile offender at the Red Wing Correctional Facility is under investigation. The Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC) says the minor was found unresponsive on Saturday. Despite life-saving aid, they died at the scene. No other information is available.

 

>>Avon Man Sentenced to Over 9 Years for Fatal 2023 Clear Lake Crash

(Elk River, MN) — An Avon man is sentenced to over nine years in prison for a fatal crash near Clear Lake in August 2023. Sherburne County prosecutors say 24-year-old Hunter Buckentine pleaded guilty to criminal vehicular homicide and operation charges. Court documents say Buckentine was heading west on Highway 10 when he rear-ended a Chevy Cobalt. The Cobalt rolled in the ditch multiple times, killing a passenger, 34-year-old Jordan Kramer of Clarissa. Another passenger suffered life-threatening injuries, and the driver had minor injuries. Officials say Buckentine took a Snapchat of his speedometer at 150 miles per hour with the caption “new record” before crashing.

 

>>Woman Found Safe Near Spicer by Kandiyohi County Deputy, K9

(Spicer, MN) — A woman is safe after being found by a Kandiyohi County sheriff’s deputy and their K-9 Maverick. Authorities were called to an address near Nest Lake west of Spicer around 6 p-m Monday on reports of a woman in distress. Maverick and his handler found the woman unresponsive in a heavily wooded area. The woman was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center, and her identity and current condition are unknown.

 

>>Dr. Anthony Fauci Speaking at U of M Northrop Auditorium

(Minneapolis, MN) — Doctor Anthony Fauci is speaking tonight (Tues 6pm) on the University of Minnesota’s East Bank. Fauci will present the Distinguished Carlson Lecture at Northrop Auditorium. Fauci was the chief medical advisor to the White House during the COVID pandemic and is expected to discuss his 50-plus year career medicine. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2008 by President George W. Bush for his work on an AIDS relief program. U of M officials say the free event is at full capacity.

 

>>MSU-Moorhead and Moorhead Public Schools Partner on Free Tuition Program

(Moorhead, MN) — Starting with the class of 2025, Moorhead High School graduates with a G-P-A of 3.0 or higher can receive four years of free college tuition at Minnesota State University Moorhead. M-S-U-M President Dr. Tim Downs says the partnership aims to keep Moorhead graduates in the city, covering any remaining tuition costs at the university after all other aid has been applied. To qualify, students must apply for Federal Student Aid (FASA) by May 1st and enroll full-time at Minnesota State Moorhead in the fall following their high school graduation.

 

>>Iron Maiden Playing Xcel Energy Center Tuesday Night

(St. Paul, MN) — British hard rock legends Iron Maiden are playing the Xcel Energy Center tonight (Tues 7:30pm) in St. Paul. The Future Past Tour features songs from Iron Maiden’s recent album Senjutsu, 1986’s Somewhere In Time, and other classic tunes. Promoters say this tour has one of the most spectacular stage productions of the band’s career. Iron Maiden last played Minnesota in 2017 also at the X. Fans think Maiden should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
