>>Woodbury Police Search for Missing Woman with Alzheimer’s

(Woodbury, MN) — Woodbury police are asking for the public’s help finding a missing woman with Alzheimer’s. Mary Billmeyer was last seen near her Woodbury home last night or this morning in pink and white pajamas. Police ask locals to check their property, vehicles, and outdoor appliances. Billmeyer is white, elderly, with silver/white hair, brown eyes, and glasses.

 

>>St. Paul Man Drives into Stream on Highway 61 near Two Harbors 

(Two Harbors, MN) — A St. Paul man is hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries suffered in a crash Tuesday on Highway 61 along the North Shore. The State Patrol says 46-year-old Vong Yang fell asleep at the wheel near Two Harbors, drove through the median, across the northbound lanes, and came to rest in a stream. Yang was taken to the hospital in Two Harbors for treatment. His passenger wasn’t injured in the crash. The report says they were both wearing seatbelts.

 

>>Upper Mississippi Shipping Season Winds Down

(Undated) – The December 9th closures will officially end the 2024 navigation season on the Upper Mississippi River between Hastings, Minnesota, and Lynxville, Wisconsin. As for this year’s shipping activity, Patrick Moes with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says it was historically below average, partly due to “low water on the lower part of the river impacting navigation and traffic on the upper part.” Winter maintenance will run from December 9th through March 14th.

 

>>Getting Kids Ready for Daylight Savings Time

(Undated) – The clocks fall back this weekend, and now is the time to get your kids ready for the time change. UW-Health Pediatrician Dr. Casey Freymiller says even small changes over the next few days can have a big impact. He suggests spending a few days beforehand, adjusting by 15 minutes each night, going down later, and getting up a little bit later can lead to less of a dramatic shift on Sunday and going to school on Monday. Freymiller says it’s also important kids have a consistent wake-up time and get sunlight exposure in the morning.

 

>>Minnesota Vikings Acquiring Jaguars Offensive Tackle Robinson

(Eagan, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings are reportedly bringing in Jaguars offense tackle Cam Robinson to fill in for injured starter Christian Darrisaw. The NFL Network reports Minnesota will send a fifth-round draft pick to Jacksonville for Robinson. Darrisaw was having a career year protecting Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold before suffering a season-ending keen injury. 29-year-old Robinson didn’t play last Sunday for the Jags after he recovered from a concussion.

 

>>Voting Underway in Duluth’s First Snowplow Name Contest 

(Duluth, MN) — The city of Duluth is following MnDOT’s lead by launching its first snowplow-naming contest. The ten finalists for the new plow include Blizzard Wizzard, Lake Snowbegone, Edgar Allen Plow, and Sled Zeppelin. Anyone can vote online on the city of Duluth’s website through November 4th. The winner will be notified on November 11th, and the new plow will debut at the Christmas City of the North Parade on November 22nd. City officials say residents submitted nearly 300 snowplow names.

 

>>Chilly Halloween Forecast After a Long MN Summer

(Undated) – Forecasters are expecting precipitation and temperatures in the 30s and 40s in Minnesota for trick-or-treating on Halloween. National Weather Service meteorologist Tyler Hasenstein says there will be rains Thursday morning and when they move off to the east, “wrap-around showers will bring a change of snowflakes.” He says most of the snowflakes won’t stick around with the exception up in northeastern Minnesota along the North Shore and Duluth, maybe going as far south as Mille Lacs.
