>>St. Peter Native Arrested for Double Murder in Arizona
(Fountain Hills, AZ) — A former Minnesota National Guard soldier is the suspect in the shooting deaths of two campers in Maricopa County, Arizona. Authorities arrested 31-year-old Thomas Henry Brown from St. Peter for the killing of two high school students in Tonto National Forrest in late May. They were found dead of multiple gunshot wounds in some bushes. Investigators said Brown’s DNA was in the victim’s SUV and inside a pair of gloves with blood on them. He’s a 2012 graduate of St. Peter High School and served as an infantryman in the Minnesota and Arizona National Guard from 2013 to 2022.
>>Sartell Boy Remains in Critical Condition Following Bike Crash
(Sartell, MN) – Sartell police have identified the boy critically injured in a recent bike crash. 12-year-old Raghav Shrestha of Sartell remains in critical condition and on life support at Hennepin County Medical Center. Despite wearing a helmet, Shrestha suffered a severe head injury that reportedly led to cardiac arrest at the scene. His family has given police permission to release his name and condition to keep friends and the community informed. Shrestha is a seventh-grade student at Sartell-St. Stephen Middle School. According to the Sartell Police Department, the crash happened around 7:50 p.m. Sunday evening. He was riding his bike down Muskie Hill when he lost control and crashed near the bottom.
>>Reward Offered in Barnesville Burglary
(Breckendridge, MN) — The Wilkin County Sheriff’s Office says a $6,000 reward is now offered for information leading to the return of money and personal documents taken in a burglary at a farm south of Barnesville last December. A Fargo man, Benjamin Emerson, 37, was arrested. Investigators say they believe others took part in the burglary. The owner of the property, who put up the money, is hoping that the reward leads to additional arrests, the recovery of a safe, and property that was in the safe. Reyer has represented House District 52-A since 2021 and serves on the Health Finance and Policy and Capital Investment committees. (Minneapolis, MN) — Palestine solidarity activists are rallying downtown tonight at 5 p.m. to mark two years since the start of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. Organizers say over 150 countries now recognize Palestine, and global pressure is mounting—from boycott campaigns to flotillas aiming to break the siege. The protest at the Federal Building is organized by several groups, including the U.S. Palestinian Community Network (USPCN) and the Anti-War Committee. Organizers say the march will honor victims and demand an end to U.S. aid to Israel, the siege on Gaza, and what they call genocide.
>>Minneapolis Adds Third NARCAN Vending Machine
(Minneapolis, MN) – The City of Minneapolis has added a third NARCAN vending machine to combat fentanyl overdoses. The new vending machine was installed at Fire Station 5 on Bloomington Avenue South. The vending machine offers free NARCAN kits containing two doses each. Officials say the program is saving lives. They report that the two existing fire station locations have distributed more than 6,000 doses of NARCAN since the initiative began last year. The Minneapolis Health Department leads the program in partnership with Hennepin County and the Minneapolis Fire Department.

Fire Prevention Week sparks statewide push for wildfire education in Minnesota. Karen Harrison with the DNR says fall is a big time for wildfires, making it the perfect time for prevention education. Historically, some of the most devastating wildfires in Minnesota’s past have begun in September and October, such as the Great Hinckley Fire, which started on September 1st, 1894.
>>Twin Cities Jewish Film Festival Prepares for 31st Year
(Undated) – October 23rd marks the beginning of the 11 days of the Twin Cities Jewish Film Festival. Festival Director Katie Kline says there are 47 films this year that will be featured at eight venues across the Twin Cities. She notes almost all of the films are a premiere and probably won’t be shown in MN again. Kline says each night includes community conversations with filmmakers and collaborations with local Jewish organizations.
