(Brown County, MN) — Six local law enforcement officers have been awarded medals of valor and merit Tuesday night for their roles in capturing the killer of Algona, Iowa Police Officer Kevin Cram. Cram was killed by Kyle Ricke (rick-EE) on September 13th, 2023, while fleeing to Brown County from an Iowa arrest warrant. Medals of Valor were given to Brown County Deputies Jason Fairbairn and Justin Robertson, Sleepy Eye Officers Taylor Bolinger and Peter McGarry, and State Trooper Valerie Hauer. Dispatcher Julie Hellendrung was awarded a Medal of Merit.

(Minneapolis, MN) — One man is dead, and another is injured after a shooting in Minneapolis this morning (WED). Police responded to a Shot Spotter alert of four shots fired in the Phillips neighborhood around 4:40 a.m. In an alley, officers found a 20-year-old man with a gunshot to the head and a man in his 30s with a gunshot wound to the neck. The 20-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The man in his 30s was brought to a hospital and is expected to survive. Police say the incident involved a homeless encampment. No arrests have been made, but investigators say they have strong information on who the suspect could be.

(St. Louis Park, MN) — Gas sells for less than $3 a gallon at stations across Minnesota, but today’s (Wed) statewide average is just over $3.02 a gallon. Triple-A Minnesota reports the lowest average price for gas is $2.73 in Pennington County in the northwest corner of the state. The highest average price is $3.28 in Cook County on the North Shore. You can fill up for under $ 3 a gallon in 15 Minnesota counties. The national average for regular unleaded is $3.21 per gallon.

(Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN) — The Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport (MSP) has been ranked number one among mega airports in J.D. Power’s 2024 North America Airport Satisfaction Study. The report says MSP earned the highest customer satisfaction ranking for each of the seven airport dimensions based on ease of travel, level of trust, terminal facilities, airport staff, departure experience, food, beverage, retail, and arrival experience. MSP is the 18th busiest U.S. airport, serving 34.7 million passengers in 2023.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Hennepin County Board has approved a 5.5% increase to the 2025 property tax levy. This will be split between count operations, 4.5%, and Hennepin Healthcare, 1%. Board members say the levy will raise over $1 billion in revenue for their budget. Similar levies set for 2025 include Ramsey County at 4.75%, St. Paul at 7.9%, and Minneapolis at 8.1%.
